Last week, the Villa School gym buzzed with excitement as 23 students and staff -- on two teams -- gathered for a spirited "mat ball" tournament organized by the PBIS staff. (PBIS, an integral part of our educational philosophy, stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) All other school staff and students were in attendance as spectators. Mat ball, a fast-paced game that combines elements of baseball and kickball, brought out the competitive energy in everyone! Each play brought roars of excitement and cheers from teammates. With swift kicks, daring slides, and high-fives all around, it was clear that the players’ enthusiasm set the tone for the day. The game not only provided a burst of energy and friendly competition but also showcased the sportsmanship and school community spirit that PBIS aims to foster. Teamwork and a bit of friendly rivalry are all it takes to bring people together! #VillaProud

EDD's in football on the field - but BK has a GREAT point about Every Day Disciplines. If applied this has HUGE power for POSITIVE effect with athletes. One of the other best parts from the convo with BK is when he reminds coaches to STOP asking kids to be adults. Don't ask these 18-22 year old kids to handle conflict when you cannot do it yourself. Let these kids be the best version of themselves. Full convo on ALL platforms #SCN | #StrengthCoachNetwork | #CMW | #CheekyMidWeeky | #Learn | #Education

Celebrating the Unsung Heroes – Parents of Young Footballers ????????? Football is more than just a game – It’s a journey ??? And parents are the foundation of this journey ?? They are the ones who: ?? Drive their children to early morning training sessions, weekend matches, and tournaments. ?? Juggle work schedules and personal commitments to ensure their child gets every opportunity to grow in the sport. ?? Motivate their kids during tough days, reinforcing that failure is part of the process. ?? Teach values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance that extend far beyond the pitch. At DPDL, we recognize that a young footballer’s development requires more than talent alone. It demands: ??? Unwavering support: Parents who believe in their child’s dreams even when challenges arise. ? Patience: Knowing that growth takes time, both as an athlete and a person. ?? Commitment: Staying invested not just in matches won, but in lessons learned. Your involvement does more than help build better footballers; it shapes the future generation of responsible and resilient individuals ?? We thank every parent for being the backbone of this journey ?? Because without you, many dreams wouldn’t be possible ? Here’s to every football parent ?? #DPDL #GrassrootsToProBoots #ParentsMatter #GrassrootsFootball #TalentDevelopment #Football #FootballJourney #5YearsOfDPDL

It was my last session today working at a Primary school. Over the past couple of years I have helped the school think differently about football. Increasing pitches from 2 to 4, new goals and more appropriate equipment for the right age groups. And with only 2 hours per week, I decided our key metric would be around confidence. We shifted from traditional static drills to a dynamic and engaging 4v4 model. We found significant improvements in the 4v4 model compared to 7v7 and 9v9, we've saw: ?? Passes Increase by +135% ?? Goals Scored Soar by +500% ?? 1v1 Encounters Up by +225% ?? Dribbling Skills Rise by +280% These numbers truly reflect in our games! Watching kids who were previously less engaged with football now scoring goals, showing off their dribbling, and brimming with newfound confidence has been great to see. In traditional formats, many of these children would get lost, maybe touched the ball once or twice, now they are fully involved. With just two hours per week, instilling confidence is key, and the results had been truly inspiring. It was a great couple of years, and hearing today how grateful the children and parents were made my year.?Not sure what’s next, would love to work full-time in the game but we will see. #football #footballcoaching #YouthFootball #FootballCoaching #SportsInnovation #coaching #youthdevelopment #uefa #fifa #thefa #contraintsapproach #4v4 #smallsidedgames

Exciting Changes to Our Training Sessions Over the past few months, our Junior training sessions have welcomed a growing number of new children. We've now reached a point where nearly 30 kids are attending each session. To better accommodate everyone, we're making some important changes at Ardwick Sports Centre: - Splitting Monday Night Lion Cubs Training: - Ages 9 and Under: 6:30pm - 7:30pm - Ages 10 and Over: 7:30pm - 9:00pm - Merging Wild Lions and Lions Black: - New session time: Sundays at Atherton Roller Rink, 7pm - 8:30pm (Start date to be confirmed soon). Until we have this date confirmed we will hold the joint season at Ardwick Sports Centre on a Monday night 9:00pm until 10:30pm. - Saturday Training Changes: - Introductory session for new players and skills session for existing Lion Cubs. - Maximum of 25 players on a first-come, first-served basis. By making these changes, we can offer more focused and effective coaching, reduce waiting times, and provide more one-on-one training opportunities. This will help all players improve their skills and ensure our Wild Lions and Lions Black players can progress together. We understand these changes might not suit everyone's schedule, but they are essential for the growth and development of our Junior teams, especially during this record-breaking season with 8 teams competing in 7 different leagues. Payment Information: - November payment plans remain the same. - Refunds are available for those who can't make the new schedule. - Junior training costs will stay the same, but we may increase Wild Lions and Lions Black fees by £5 per month from December (review pending). For any questions, please message our coaches in Spond or catch them at the next training session. Your support and understanding are greatly appreciated as we make these improvements. #LionsInlineHockeyClub #JuniorTraining #ExcitingChanges ??

This is the difference between a truly Co-Curricular athletics focus versus an Extra-curricular focus!
"What are we doing to get them ready to compete in life?" A really interesting video from high school football coach, Randall Zimmerman, on the importance of sport and coaching being used to prepare students for life, as opposed to just a college scholarship, given the numbers of players who go onto to play football in college. Recents statistics from the NCAA revealed that there were 1,006,013 registered high-school players, but only 73,712 playing in college/university, equating to 7.3%. Of the 7.3%, of these 2.9% play Division 1, 2.9% play Division 2, and 2.5% play Division 3. A good question for all coaches and teachers is, how are you preparing your students for life, and how does what you do transcend sport?

Investing in quality facilities and gears for track and field is crucial for promoting a well-rounded athletic program in schools. While basketball and football tend to receive more attention and resources, it is important to recognize the value of track and field in promoting physical fitness, endurance, and teamwork. By providing students with access to quality facilities and equipment, schools can foster a love for the sport and encourage more students to participate. Additionally, investing in track and field can also help to promote diversity and inclusivity in school athletics, as the sport is open to students of all backgrounds and abilities.

In academies, young players dream of becoming professional footballers. But the path is tough, and not everyone makes it to the top. This journey can be mentally challenging, and it’s vital that these young talents receive the right support. ? The?Right to Dream?Academy is one of the academies that teamed up with?Common Goal??? and it’s a true example how to combine player and human development. The mission and values of the Right To Dream are incredibly important and can truly impact the lives of many young players.? ? Don’t miss the second part of the conversation between Sérgio Oliveira and Juan Mata García about the topic of #MentalHealth and the importance of academies like Right To Dream.

Trust the process, follow the @pacelablimited principles (PLP) One of the most important and game-changing PLP “If you want bowl to faster , you need to train to bowl faster “ You either increase bowling speed during the season due to transfer of training from all the GPP exercises in pre season and an improvement in intra and inter coordination. Or You lose bowling speed as you never bowl in the 90-100% zone. You only ever bowl submaximally because of directional constraints. SPEED IS VERY MUCH USE IT OR LOSE IT!! Keep bowling slower , due to over net bowling or too many slower balls in a T20 phase bowlers lose the ability to go up a gear and bowl faster. Games will always happen but the amount of ‘mind numbing empty balls’ that are bowled in nets to tick the ‘training box’ destroys the ability to bowl fast. No …..ITS NOT FATIGUE!!!! Change the mindset improve the knowledge ‘Progress should always be evident and anything less than a 1.5% gain between sessions is unacceptable and means something is miss in fatigue, frequency, recovery or programming’ #speedwins #pacelabprinciples #intent #fastbowling
