New research from Blue Forest and Vibrant Planet reveals a powerful solution to California's wildfire crisis: ecological forest treatments could generate up to $6,100 per acre in carbon revenue, helping fund management costs while making forests more resilient! Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gR5Jf3fK Quick facts: ?? Ecological treatments like prescribed burns and thinning can reduce wildfire severity by 78% within just five years. ?? These treatments can also increase carbon storage by 35 metric tons per acre over 25 years compared to untreated forests. ??This could help close a major funding gap for California, which needs $2B annually to treat high-risk forest areas.
We would love to see more detail. Phoenix Energy is in the forest as an outlet for forest thinning - our projects create energy and biochar, but we see the huge task of clearing upwards of 1 million acres per year (2 million goal per CARB) as woefully underfunded . Can we talk?
Let's replicate this in Colorado ??
This is a brilliant piece of research!
I'll include a link to your article and study, Zach Knight and Allison Wolff in our upcoming Santa Clara County FireSafe Council newsletter. Good work.
Good stuff!
