Cyber Security Landscape is Changing and Improving: Well-Done UK! ?? ?? UK is the 1st Country in this "modern world" made some significant improvements in the "Cyber Security Space" and provisioned with a [ kind of ] 360 degree visibility over threat/risk-surface! Tougher?new surveillance regulatory controls asking [ + enforced] manufacturers to follow stricter rules to build trust and enhance their capabilities to track down unrecognized scammers, spoofing, and phishing attacks before they promote and sell. The risk/threat has ballooned up with?modern technology consumption, 'AI/ML/Robotics adoption, and Web-enabled device controls"?and it has become a "major threat/risk" in hacking private data by cybercriminals! ?? According to the "Department for Science Innovation and Technology (DSIT)", over 30M+ (could be different by now!) people are affected by the smart-device threat/risk. Recent changes in the Telecom Industry increased the spending CAP to a new level, and it had made a significant impact on public life. Specifically; Telephone calls/Internet/Broadcasting services prices rocketed to 8gm gold value! ?? Though the price changes came into effect, none of the providers initiated the -remediation actions- to eliminate surface-attackers and to protect customers from "Spoofing, scamming, or phishing" attacks. Finally, the UK regulatory authority made a significant step to force the "Telecom Industry to crack down on scam calls imitating UK phone numbers". Millions of suspicious calls from scammers abroad will be blocked as UK telecoms rules become stricter, the communications regulator has said. On the other hand, UK is the "first country" to enforce consumer protection in this modern era, and to boost the country's resilience in tackling cyber crime! https://lnkd.in/gRzGpjhj Similarly, UK Watchdog expressed their concerns over modern technology dominance: https://lnkd.in/gTV6pEFY Since 2023 - until today, the UK has made some significant improvements in the cyber security space to provide better service to the public, protect their devices, and provide a 360-degree (not complete though!) visibility to threat/risk-surface. I think, its time for UK regulatory authorities must look into the most irritating and annoying - "CLICK-JACKING ISSUE" - which is affecting the browsing abilities of a common man. The click-jacking events ends up in security issues, financial issues, identity loss, and unanticipated litigation issues. Hope the Govt Authorities will do what is needed to protect the public from nonsense approaches by anonymous interferers! ??

Recently, a report revealed that over $1 trillion was lost to scammers globally this past year. But is it possible that the real number is even higher? ?? Most reports like these rely on self-reporting—meaning only those who openly admit to being scammed are counted. But how many people don’t report their losses because of embarrassment or the belief they’re “too smart” to be tricked? A huge percentage of victims (70%!) didn’t report to authorities, so we can only imagine how much goes unrecorded. The truth is, that scams are becoming more sophisticated every day, and anyone can be a target. By destigmatizing discussions around cyber fraud, we might encourage more victims to come forward—creating a clearer picture of the impact. Let’s stay vigilant and proactive about cybersecurity. The first step to tackling a problem this big? Awareness. ?? Because it is the end of CyberSecurity Awareness Month and Halloween, I want to discuss something scary with you, Pig Butchering! No, I am not talking about murdering pigs. I am talking about the texts you randomly get that seem like they are a wrong number. Some examples I just received today: “Happy Halloween Justin. ??” “I’m going to New York on December 15th. Do you want to go with me?” “Hello you are Emily, right?” Please note, these are intentional and they are trying to get you to respond. The reason the scam is called Pig Butchering is because they try to create a relationship with you and get you to trust them. They are using trained psychologists to help them get your trust. This is like feeding the pigs in the farm to get them nice and fat. Once they have your trust, they tell you about some investment they have inside information on and try to get you to invest in it. Once you invest, they will show you that your investment is successful and try to get you to invest more. Eventually, you will try to pull out and that is when they butcher you (your relationship and trust with them is the pig in this example). When you attempt to withdraw your money, the websites may demand that you pay additional fees to do so, or you may be locked out of the account and never hear back from your new friend. They disappear with all of your money. You should NOT respond to these at all. Even if they don’t get you to invest, they are still gathering information from you with each text. They will use this information to scam you further in the future. Remember, they are using trained professionals to try and scam you. It’s really sad and has been very successful. If you suspect you are a victim of a Pig Butchering Scam, here is what you can do:? Notify your bank immediately Contact your local police department and file a police report File a complaint on the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3):?https://www.ic3.gov. Victims should also report to?[email protected]?and the Secret Service will refer your email to an appropriate field office for immediate action. How to avoid this scam: Honestly, knowledge and critical thinking are powerful. Be skeptical of any unknown calls or texts. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. If you do get scammed, don’t be embarrassed, just contact the authorities above and report it. On other thing you could do to keep you and your family safe, instead of fighting over politics this Holiday season, discuss pig butchering with your family. I know I have family members that think some of these texts are real and I have to let them know they are not. It also makes some good conversation laughing over some of these ridiculous texts. Now I want to hear from you: Do you know of people who have been affected by this scam? What are some of your favorite pig butchering texts you have received? ?#CyberSecurityAwarenessMonth #BewareOfScams #DigitalSafety #PigButchering
