?? Case of the Week: Ear Mites in Cats ?? Last week, I treated a couple of cats for an ear mite infestation (Otodectes cynotis) at Asia Pet Care Center. Cats were presented with scratching of ears, head shaking, and a dark-coffee-ground like discharge in the ears. Diagnosis was confirmed via microscopic examination, showing a severe infestation with a secondary infection. Treatment: I cleaned their ears, administered a mite-targeting medication, and prescribed an antimicrobial ear drops. After a week, they are now mite-free and recovering well.
