About the Role THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced equity investor to be a key member of our Property team within Global Industry Research (GIR) with responsibility for conducting research and making investment recommendations within the Asia Pacific property sector. The position can be based in Boston, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Tokyo. Our Global Industry Analysts (GIA's) are the firm's subject matter experts for their respective sectors. Their job is to generate superior investment returns through fundamental company and sector research and analysis. Setting their own research agendas that is core to their own individual philosophy and process. They are thought leaders for their sectors. Our most successful GIA's demonstrate a consistent ability to generate differentiated investment insights and effectively guide a broad range of diversified PMs into what they view as the most compelling and differentiated investment ideas across their opportunity set. Our GIA team are also Portfolio Managers themselves. They have the privilege of manage significant client assets in multiple concentrated alpha sleeves as part of our $150 billion research portfolios suite of products in addition to other client solutions. Our GIA's impact extends far beyond the research they are doing and the assets they are managing. My Journey to Becoming an Investment Analyst ? From a young age, I was captivated by the world of investments. It started with engaging conversations with my grandfather and reading books like "Rich Dad Poor Dad" and "The Intelligent Investor." Inspired by Warren Buffett's investment philosophy, I opened a trading account at 20 and began analyzing companies and investing hands-on. Eager to deepen my knowledge and become an investment professional, I pursued economics at Ben-Gurion University. While university life was incredible - making lifelong friends, partying hard, and spending more time poolside than in class - my desire to become an investment professional didn't seem to progress through my studies alone. This led me to work as an analyst in Intel's finance department during my first year. ? After three years at Intel, both as a student employee and full-time, I realized that while I had learned a lot and could have continued in Intel's "golden cage," it was time to move forward and pursue my passion for investments. ? I reduced my work to a 4-day week, dedicating my free day to learning about venture capital funds and the startup ecosystem, networking, interviewing for positions, and steering myself back toward my goal. The journey was challenging; I reached the final stages at several funds, but those opportunities also ended with rejections. The rejections kept piling up faster than I could count, but with each harsh "no," my determination only grew stronger. ? When I considered starting at a lower position, I received an offer from a strategic consulting company. However, simultaneously, there was an ongoing selection process for an analyst role at the Secondary fund named ISF, which I successfully secured after a lengthy process involving 5 interviews and complex tasks. Abandoning the more generous consulting offer, I took my first steps in the investment world by joining the investment team at the professional ISF fund. I had made it! ? Thrilled to share that I have successfully completed my Corporate Venture Capital & Business Analytics Remote Externship with HP Tech Ventures and Extern! This experience has been incredibly rewarding and has helped me build invaluable skills. Over the past month, I’ve had the opportunity to deepen my experience in market analysis and investment research. I conducted a comprehensive market analysis of the AI-enabled productivity tools space, identifying emerging trends, key opportunities, and understanding the competitive landscape. Additionally, I had the chance to source and evaluate startups that align with an organization's investment thesis. One of the most exciting parts of this journey was conducting due diligence on a promising startup and preparing an investment summary to showcase its growth potential and viability. It’s been a rewarding experience contributing to strategic investment decisions! In the hunt for life science investment funding, timing is everything. Wait too long, and you run out of cash. Move too early, and there’s not enough color and evidence to help you stand out from the pack. VCs and angels won’t flock to untested ideas and concepts in the current age of tight money - so gather evidence of a successful pathway to market before you approach them. Work hard to push a culture of quality before norms settle and crystallize. Hire people with quality expertise, push quality-centric policies and procedures, and have a high-quality operation to shout about when pitch time arrives. And use journals and industry publications to pinpoint the size of your total addressable market (TAM) - quantify your product’s realistic impact on the market and have it ready to discuss. Telling a good story is now more important than ever.
