England’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Sir Chris Whitty, has released his 'Health and Cities' report, following a fact-finding mission in the east of the borough. The findings highlighted the great work going on across Haringey. Case studies in the report included: ?? Our work at homelessness resource centre Mulberry Junction. The report notes “What sets Mulberry Junction apart is its comprehensive service model and its commitment to accessibility and immediate support with as few barriers as possible.” ??? New housebuilding and a health centre at Walter Tull House, which “focuses on delivering new, better, and healthier homes, places, and services.” ?? Community support group ABC Parents, who run classes and workshops in Haringey’s most deprived areas to “increase accessibility, reduce stigma, and establish advocacy for the most vulnerable families.” Read more: https://bit.ly/3D6Yc4s

The conversation "How do I quickly gain traction with my new testing program?" that I have with pharmacists is a frequent and understandable one. A very valuable resource is networks (CPESN comes to mind) and other colleagues that have experience pursuing GRANTS. The state you live in, right now, has money set aside to give to citizens, who can fulfill some much needed public health goal. That could be you, or your tech or your community health worker credentialed staff person. These frequently take the form of data collection, public outreach, and education. However, there are marked spatial inequalities in healthcare access in Ghana (Peprah, Budu, Agyemang-Duah, Abalo, & Gyimah, 2020; Stewart et al., 2016; Yawson et al., 2017). Recently, a number of initiatives have been made to lessen these access to healthcare disparities. Prominent among these are the free maternal health care program (Witter, Adjei, Armar-Klemesu, & Graham, 2009; Azaare, Akweongo, Aryeetey, & Dwomoh, 2020; Dalinjong et al., 2018a, Dalinjong et al., 2018b), the national health insurance scheme to eliminate financial obstacles that restrict access to and utilization of healthcare (Dixon, Luginaah, & Mkandawire, 2014; Witter & Garshong, 2009), and the construction of health infrastructure to serve deprived areas. Despite these interventions, available evidence has established a strong relationship between socio-economic inequalities and healthcare access and utilization in Ghana (Fenny, Asuman, Crentsil, & Odame, 2018; Kuuire, Bisung, Rishworth, Dixon, & Luginaah, 2016; Novignon, Ofori, Tabiri, & Pulok, 2019). Through At Home Dental’s #supervisedtoothbrushing, community outreach and care home support, #oralhealth provision is reaching thousands of vulnerable individuals who previously struggled to access such support. The success of At Home Dental’s Big Brush Club in #Torbay and North #Somerset serves as a powerful example of how collaborative efforts between schools, dental professionals, public health teams and local authorities can significantly improve the oral health of young children. https://lnkd.in/e5skqy8w

?? New Resource Alert ?? I have had the joy and privilege of working with the Children’s Hospital Association team over the past several months. I’m now proud to share our new report — “Screening for Social Drivers of Health: Children’s Hospitals Respond” — is available! This Children’s Hospital Association report (in collaboration with Nyoo Health) shares strategies children’s hospitals and health systems have used to implement social drivers of health screenings. It shares how 29 children’s hospitals: ??Screen patients and families for social drivers. ??Respond to positive screens. ??Build community partnerships. ??Improve workflows and referral processes. But the report isn’t just for children’s hospitals. It highlights unique considerations that apply when screening children and their families for social drivers in any setting.
