Last week, our team accomplished something that no other team has done before: In just four months, we went from a clean-sheet design to an operational phased array ground station. For reference, past attempts to accomplish this have taken over 5x as long and cost over 10x as much, and many have failed! Blown away by the talent, grit, and innovativeness of our engineering team. There are almost too many distinct accomplishments to cover, but to rattle off a few: -Successfully validated our all-digital phased array beamforming, including the ability to update our system in the field with zero hardware changes. -Demonstrated interoperability with Planet's existing satellite and ground stations, allowing them to perform nominal operations with virtually no re-work. -Went from truck to live-sky testing in 6 hours (and that's without even prioritizing rapid deployment!). -Nominally operated in 60mph wind gusts without an enclosure. -Tracked and communicated with a de-orbiting satellite, demonstrating our variable beamwidth capabilities. So what's next? Build, build, build! The team (after some well-earned celebration and rest) is now focused on operationalizing this technology and scaling up our manufacturing so we can achieve truly resilient, proliferated space-ground communications. I'm thrilled to share that my review paper on optimization techniques in Network-on-Chip (NoC) architecture has been published in IEEE Xplore! ?? This paper reviews recent advances in network-on-chip (NoC) optimization techniques, focusing on addressing challenges related to fault tolerance and congestion management in multicore systems. It explores innovative strategies that enhance the resilience and efficiency of NoC systems, including fault-tolerant routing algorithms, wireless NoC congestion control mechanisms, dynamic voltage scaling techniques, and design methodologies for heterogeneous architectures. The effectiveness of these strategies is evaluated in terms of network latency, energy efficiency, and system reliability.
