As a former Army medic, reflecting on September 11, 2001, brings back vivid memories of how deeply it shaped not only the military but also the nation as a whole. The attacks marked a turning point, sparking the War on Terror, leading to deployments that forever altered the trajectory of so many lives—military personnel, first responders, and civilians alike. For medics, the aftermath saw a heightened emphasis on combat readiness and trauma care, as we found ourselves deploying to areas where our skills were critical in saving lives under fire. The immediate response to 9/11 was a surge of patriotism and a sense of duty. Many, including myself, were motivated by the need to serve and protect. The warzones we entered in Iraq and Afghanistan had a distinct intensity, with the constant need to provide medical care in challenging and dangerous environments. It also redefined the scope of care, blending battlefield medicine with innovations in trauma care that have since improved survival rates for soldiers and civilians alike. The impact of 9/11 endures, not just in military strategy or geopolitics, but in the personal stories of those who served. For many of us, it was the catalyst for a career that tested our resilience, taught us the value of life, and left a lasting imprint on our view of sacrifice and service. #NeverForget #September11 #ArmyMedicReflections #ServiceAndSacrifice #CombatMedic #Patriotism #WarOnTerror
As we observe the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, we at the Gary Sinise Foundation remember the lives lost and the heroic actions of first responders and brave civilians. We will continue to honor the memory of those who served and sacrificed, ensuring their legacy lives on. Together, we vow to never forget the courage of those who defended our nation and the impact they left behind.

Honor, a word that resonates with the essence of humanity, holds the profound significance of service and sacrifice for the greater good. There is no greater honor than the opportunity to serve and help preserve our freedom, a privilege that embodies the very core of our values. Freedom, although not free, stands as the cornerstone that binds us together, reminding us that it is a gift worth fighting for. The U.S. Marine Corps, with its unwavering dedication and commitment, stands as a beacon of strength and resilience, shouldering the burden to ensure that our freedom remains intact. "Being ready is not what matters. What matters is winning after you get there," a powerful statement that encapsulates the unwavering resolve and determination that define true honor. In the face of adversity, it is not merely preparation that counts but the unwavering spirit and willingness to go above and beyond to secure victory. This noble pursuit of victory, built on the foundation of honor, serves as a testament to the timeless virtues that shape our collective identity and guide us towards a future defined by courage and selflessness.

As I reflect on our celebrations of Memorial Day and D-day, I am so humbled. Countless brave, selfless Americans sacrificed everything to protect our freedoms and the American way of life. I am so thankful. Today our freedoms are not being used to have robust debates to bring about positive change. Instead, they are being used to polarize, divide and tear our nation apart. You are either "for us" or "against us." If you are "against us" then you are the enemy. Instead of tolerance we have mocking, ridicule and outright hatred. Where is tolerance in this? Tolerance does not mean I accept, celebrate and endorse your view point or personal lifestyle choices. Rather, it means I can disagree with your view or choice and still respect you as a person and treat you with the common courtesy and respect that all deserve. Tolerance is a fundamental by-product of individual rights and freedoms, yet it is lacking in today's society. Our brave military sacrificed everything to preserve our way of life. Today we have people who have never served or sacrificed anything for anyone doing everything they can to destroy our way of life. What has happened to our nation? It must break the hearts of our veterans. May we as a nation reflect on this and relearn common courtesy, decency, tolerance for and respect of others. May we use our freedoms to make our communities and nation a better place to live for all, not worse.

Seems that the formulation of a "Community.. ." is in order.
According to Moreau de Saint-Méry, the following quote is attributed to none other than the great King Henry Christophe: “Henry [First of His Name], by the Grace of God and the Constitutional Law of the State, King of Haiti, Sovereign of Tortuga, Gonave and other adjacent Islands, Destroyer of Tyranny, Regenerator and Benefactor of the Haitian Nation, Creator of Her Moral, Political and Martial Institutions, First Crowned Monarch of the New World, Defender of the Faith, and Founder of the Royal and Military Order of Saint-Henry.” Sounds like something from Games of Thrones, doesn’t it? So next time you hear this fictitious royal bragging about her accomplishments, “Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regent of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons.” think of our real King Christophe, who actually accomplished a lot for his subjects. Haitians don’t have to pretend. We did world-changing shit! Let’s do it again. We have the blueprints and receipts!
