We are seeing a surge in M&A hiring in Chicago BigLaw!?There are FOUR active and open roles for Class of 2022+ M&A / PE associates in Chicago that are all NEW! Who's doing the hiring? "Chicago Elite" BigLaw names, V10s whose deal pipelines are globally booming - and are seeking someone specifically for Chicago, and PE / M&A powerhouses open to having a successful candidate based in any of their offices, including?Chicago. How To Get Hired: - Strong M&A / PE BigLaw Experience. The most junior of these roles is seeking someone with *two full years* of M&A?/ PE experience, or someone capable of operating at such a level (everyone knows that many juniors are in a general transactional pool or complete various practice group rotations). - Illinois Bar always helps - the?Illinois ARDC?has been understaffed for most of this year and the process to transfer your UBE score has taken some candidates as much as 6 months. This is an anomaly from recent years, but it's going to put pressure on firms to prioritize candidates with IL bar. That said, this is often a bigger requirement for litigators than for corporate associates, so if you don't have the IL bar, you're still a very placeable candidate. - A Strong "Why" for Chicago. We all want easy access to?Le Bouchon's?half-price-bottles-of-wine-on-Mondays, but some sort of reason to be in the Midwest (e.g., family / friendship network) and a good story to spin around that will be key. But that's where we come in, and we can help you tell your story! Over the past few weeks, I've spoken with several rising 2nd years that want to lateral or pivot to a new practice area. Many are in slow practice groups and feel like they are falling behind their peers in training and experience. Some truly dislike their practice and need a change. And there are some that can already see the "writing on the wall" that they have no long-term future at their firm. Hiring remains slow for juniors but there is some optimism that the market will begin to open up for 2nd years after bonuses hit. My advice is to stay patient and keep working on expanding your skillset. Your time is coming! #biglaw #biglawrecruiting #lateral

I’m guilty of not saying this enough, and I really should say it more often: WELL BLOODY DONE! Five months ago, I hired someone who impressed me from the moment I met him – my first ‘Business Services’ teammate at Pure Search, Jordan Dyer. An ex-accountant with valuable recruitment experience, he joined us with a clear plan: to partner with our law firm clients and handle senior-level searches, exclusively focusing on Finance roles – CFOs, Directors, and Senior Management. His probation? We signed it off early – because Jordan has been nothing short of exceptional. Successful searches? Check. He has exceeded expectations and made a huge impact, not just in London but also leading us to exciting opportunities in the US. Integration? Seamless. He's a great person who sets high standards for himself and is someone I trust implicitly. The future? There’s no limit to what he can achieve.
