ICYMI: A New Era for Bobwhite Quail In order to make significant progress in restoring bobwhite quail populations, wild lands and working lands must work together for the benefit of the life they support and the livelihoods they sustain. That’s why one of Quail Forever’s strategic priorities includes restoring and enhancing 780,000 acres of upland habitat on private land in targeted quail states by 2026. That may seem like a daunting task, but luckily there are proven programs, solid partnerships, and a brand-new opportunity for landowners to utilize. Watch our original film, “A New Era for Bobwhite Quail,” to learn about some of these landmark initiatives while also hearing from landowners who are making – and seeing – a difference for quail populations on their own properties in Georgia and Missouri. A thoughtful reflection on life:
In the wake of the National Plan to End Parkinson's Act being signed into law, we ask: what's next? My father, Dan Cochrane, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (PD) in 2001. He's been a bold and powerful voice in the community for more than two decades. We've seen big ideas and potential cures come and go in this time. As he just had a major milestone of his own, turning 80 years old, he decided he had a few things to say. Please check out the video below, in which he declares Independence from the fear of #Parkinsons.

As the Oakland Athletics prepare to move from the #Coliseum, I find myself questioning: Is this truly the right move? The tribute video to their loyal Oakland fans stirred a mix of emotions. While the business side of baseball is undeniably crucial, has it overshadowed what makes the game special—the deep-rooted connection between the team and its community? Historically, teams that relocate often face backlash from dedicated fan bases. For instance, attendance rates can significantly drop after a move; the San Diego Chargers saw a 38% decline in ticket sales after relocating to Los Angeles in 2017(Lefty). Could the Athletics have done more to revitalize the Coliseum, enhance the game-day experience, and increase fan engagement, even during challenging seasons? Instead of jumping ship, perhaps investing in community activities, menu revamps, or improving the existing infrastructure could have fostered greater local support. I'm not suggesting that all relocations are detrimental—many teams have found success in new markets, such as the Seattle Seahawks, which thrive in a community-driven environment. However, the situation raises important questions about how organizations balance business priorities with the needs and emotions of their fans. I sincerely hope for the Athletics’ success in their new venture, yet I can't help but feel a sense of sadness for the fans who have stood by the team through thick and thin. The connection with the community should never be underestimated. #OaklandAthletics #OaklandColiseum #Baseball #Community #FanEngagement #SportsBusiness #TeamRelocation #BusinessOfBaseball #AthleticsLegacy
Thank you, Oakland Coliseum ????
