#2024FirearmResearchConf workshop highlight of the week! Trainees and junior faculty, this one is for you! "Funding Opportunities and Strategies in Firearm Research for Early-Career (“Pre-K”) Scientists" will be led by Marian Betz MD MPH, Joe Simonetti MD MPH, Ali Rowhani-Rahbar MD MPH PhD, and Kristian Jones, PhD from the University of Colorado Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative and the Firearm Injury & Policy Research Program at the University of Washington. Workshop learning objectives: 1. Recognize the diversity of funding options available to students and early career investigators entering the field of firearm violence research and unique characteristics of each 2. Define the key parts of a training grant (e.g., fellowship or “K” career development award), including research, mentorship, and training plans 3. Explain the importance of framing and “telling your story” in a training grant 4.
