Justice for all includes equitable healthcare. On Juneteenth, we recognize the ongoing health disparities faced by Black women, including the alarming statistic that reveals higher breast cancer death rates within this community. Across the US, Black women are still more likely to lose their lives to breast cancer compared to White women despite having lower breast cancer incidence rates. “We have been reporting this same disparity year after year for a decade. The differences in death rates are not explained by Black women having more aggressive cancers.
