Prof.?Gregory Gerling?and University of Virginia Systems and Information Engineering PhD Alums Bingxu Li, Ph.D. and Steven Hauser were recently awarded the?2024 IEEE Transactions on Haptics Best Paper Award for their paper "Faster indentation influences skin deformation to reduce tactile discriminability of compliant objects."?They, along with Russell Sharpe, were also awarded the runner-up best technical conference paper at the IEEE Haptics Symposium on April 11th for work entitled "A transparent hydraulic actuator to visualize finger pad deformation at programmable material compliances." Dear all, The time has come for me to defend my licentiate thesis on ???????????????? ??4???? ???? ????:???? CET. It would be a pleasure to have you there, either online or in person at LTH, M building, (M:IEA), Lund University, Sweden. A new diagnostic method for detecting inter-turn faults in permanent magnet synchronous machines, particularly for automotive applications, is presented in the thesis. **Key Highlights** ?? The proposed method is based on detection of the dc offset of the SFL vector in the anti synchronous reference frame (ASRF). The DC offset of the SFL is calculated by estimating the SFL in the stator reference frame, transforming it to an ASRF, and low pass filtering it. ?? Using the stator flux linkage DC offset namely "SFDO" its possible to identify the fault location and fault severity under any operating conditions like idling, motoring and field weakening (FW) of the traction machine. Just presented our paper on "Schrodinger Equation for Mobility Problem in a N-Channel MOSFET using GNU Octave" at 2024 IEEE Latin American Electron Devices Conference (LAEDC)???? Our research delves into advanced solutions for understanding transistor behavior. By employing the Schr?dinger equation, we're able to model quantum effects, such as mobility and quantum tunneling, which can significantly impact device performance.

Excited to share that our paper, "CharDiff: Improving Sampling Convergence via Characteristic Function Consistency in Diffusion Models", has been accepted at IEEE/CVF Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision 2025 (Core Rank-A). ? In this work, we present a plug-and play module to improve the sampling convergence of diffusion models without retraining. It uses characteristic function to guide the sampling trajectory and minimize sampling drift. Additionally, we also discuss the theoretical aspects of this approach to highlight its impact towards better FID score. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach in both conditional and unconditional image synthesis tasks. Excited to share that our manuscript, "On-chip petahertz electronics for single-shot phase detection," has been published! ?? In this work, we demonstrate how petahertz electronics, based on plasmonic nanoantennas, can transition from a purely scientific experiment towards a practical detector technology. This was a huge collaborative effort from researchers at Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MPI for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter and WiredSense. A huge shout-out to all the amazing contributors: Matthew Yeung,Engjell Bebeti,Roland E. Mainz,Toru Matsuyama, Hüseyin ?ankaya, Karl Berggren, Giulio Rossi, Donnie Keathley and Franz Kaertner. Great to see this paper by Alex Robinson and co-authors Jack Wells, Amirafshar Moshtaghpour, Daniel Nicholls, Chen Huang, Abner Velazco-Torrejón, Giuseppe Nicotra, Angus Kirkland and Nigel Browning, produced in collaboration with the Rosalind Franklin Institute and CNR-IMM (Istituto per la microelettronica e microsistemi). In the work, SenseAI was used to overcome the limiting factor of speed of acquisition to demonstrate the first practical implementations of compressive 4D STEM for real-time inference on two different scanning transmission electron microscopes. #electronmicroscopy #microscopy #inpainting #STEM #4DSTEM
