In Gen AI for 2D video, one of the tell-tale signs of AI is incorrect fingers (and that’s quickly being solved). In Gen AI for 3D character animation, an equivalent could be feet hitting the floor. ?? In the Video: - blue dots show the positions of the feet before adjustments - the number is the frame number (30 frames per second) - red shots show heel and toe adjustment after an inverse kinematic (IK) function to adjust heels and toes - we further adjust the character's pelvis height to improve realness This type of attention moves each footstep just centimeters, but that adjustment makes the difference between jumping over the uncanny valley or falling into it. AI ANIMATION opens up an infinite #playground Here's my follow up video to my last post showing two 3D characters I created for another IMAGERY WORLD I'm working on. I brought these characters to life in KLING AI ( 1.6 Standard and Pro Model ). While there are some glitches in details ( e.g. hands ) and minor flaws in consistency, these demo clips show the awesome potential of animating #3Dlike CHARACTERS with genAI, using image input and a prompt. Holy Crap Procedural Cloth sim has advanced since I last checked. Granted there's an AI post-pro layer or two at the render end of this pipeline; but granted that such is NOT the case in the simulation and pre-pro graphics layer. So we're talking a 3D model with multilayered clothes which must not only conform to other cloth layers plus the model's skin (which in turn must conform to the animator skeleton); but be able to pop in and out on-a-frame to realize the alternating outfits. Suffice it to say: I need to start binge watching 'Two Minute Papers' to catch up on the what/where/how of the past years' research; eh?
