Great piece to camera from Pearl - love this approach. I think that Next Meal are based in London Borough of Haringey. As we know Geoff down in Cornwall is a proponent of 80:20 ie trying to get 80% of benefit for 20% of cost. Next Meal is such a great idea but how can Pearl achieve 80% of what she wants to achieve by only spending 20% of budget. Well as far as property is concerned I’ll attach the list of property assets that those who live in Haringey actually own albeit through the London Borough of Haringey as council in its role as freeholder of real estate assets within its boundaries. Is LBH making best use of its assets for its communities ie “ sweating “ them to use a culinary/ real estate term of art. If not , could the Estates Department at LBH identify those of its assets which are surplus to operational usage and allow them to be used by collectives of Third Sector organisations like Next Meal to make a difference day to day. After all there are something like 140,000 charities in the U.K…. If there weren’t demands for their services we wouldn’t need them. So why not offer such surplus real assets to charities like Next Meal to use them for “ meantime use” …. In this case providing sustinence & support but also perhaps shelter from the storm … both economically and physically. Good work - Pearl and your colleagues

The world needs fresh ideas and a new type of politics and politicians, representing mankind as a whole and each of us as equals instead of fragmented political interests! We have to grow together in order to urgently address the issues that impact all of us like conflict, climate change, inequality and forced migration together. This we can only do without any dominance, as equals. Collectively in Solidarity. www.convergence.ngo & www.pax.ngo

Yes. Be the example that you want to show up in your life. The example of the one you want to work with. Even if those examples aren’t showing up Don’t worry because your energy will cause you to meet.

As a recruiter, I always ask one key question to every candidate: 'Are you the person that you would want to work with?' It's a simple yet powerful question that reveals a lot about a person's character and work ethic. After all, we spend a significant amount of our time at work, so it's essential to surround ourselves with people we respect and admire. As you reflect on your own professional journey, take a moment to ask yourself the same question. Are you the type of person that others would want to work with? If not, what changes can you make to become that person? Let's strive to be the best versions of ourselves, not just for our own success but for the success of those around us. #hardwork #bethebest

This clip from the Alzheimer's Society is quite the gut puncher, or rather the stiletto between the ribs, given its accuracy. So why post about it here on LI? Because it will reach people who have loved ones who are living with, yet being lost, to dementia. It might also reach those who are leading / line managing people whose loved ones are living with dementia. And that matters, because it makes sound business sense to be curious as to what the impact is on people in the workplace. It makes sound business sense to use that curiosity and family friendly / compassionate leave policies to provide authentic, inclusive support. #LivingWithDementia #FamilyFriendlyPolicies #inclusion #NotJustChildcare #HumaneLeadership

My dad has dementia. And I’m losing a bit of him every day. It has been devastating to watch the towering 6ft 6in man, my dad, my rock, lose more and more of himself. An English teacher - a man of words – he has withdrawn from social and family interactions, losing his love of words and communicating. This weekend’s family Easter celebration was another painful reminder of that. This appalling, slow death of ‘self’ will impact half of us – either directly or a family member. So why on earth is no one is talking about it?? You may have seen the new ad from Alzheimer’s Society, “The Long Goodbye”. This portrayal of dementia from the point of view of the family – losing their loved one again, and again, and again… and the incredible pain that causes – is one that resonates all too strongly. So I’m incredibly proud that me and my team at Alzheimer’s Society are partnering with amazing people, trusts and foundations, who will not lie down and accept the devastation that dementia is causing millions of families worldwide. People and organisations that are standing with us, investing in support for families like mine navigating the daily challenges and trauma today, and investing in new treatments and diagnosis that will transform all of our experiences of dementia in the future. The Long Goodbye shows just how badly that change is needed. If you haven’t seen it yet, I really recommend giving it a watch. Hundreds of families affected by dementia – just like mine - contributed to its making. And if you’re going through this too, please know Alzheimer’s Society will be there for you - again and again, and again. ?? #dementia #alzheimers #alzheimerssociety #longgoodbye
