Black History Month may have ended, but our stories certainly haven’t. When the Dong family was turned away by discriminatory landlords, Gus and Emma Thompson, an African American couple, stepped up and opened their doors, setting the stage for a lifelong friendship. Decades later, the descendants of both families have come together to celebrate that life-changing act of unity. The Dong family has also donated an incredible $5 million dollars to Black college students. Their story is a testament to the power of standing together, even when the odds seem stacked against us.
