This paper presents the design of a Sliding Mode Control (SMC) for H2 purity regulation in high pressure alkaline electrolyzers. The control scheme is based on mixing the concepts of sliding-mode control with a PID sliding surface and Bristol matrix design. A 25-state dynamic model of the high-pressure alkaline electrolyzer is considered from the literature. The results show that the proposed control scheme design is simple, and the results obtained motivate more studies to be used in more realistic applications.

Retrofitting conventional windows to make buildings explosion-resistant is a critical challenge.?Our latest research focuses on improving the resistance of conventional single casement PVC windows through a combination of innovative retrofit measures.?This approach combines the use of anti-shatter films, metallic sash reinforcements, glass bonding, and a burglar-resistant fitting system. In addition, novel?patches made of glass fiber reinforced polymer were applied to the window frames to further enhance the blast resistance. The results of the shock-tube tests indicate?that the explored retrofit measures can significantly reduce the threat of window fragments, thereby?improving safety without compromising the aesthetics or the functionality of the window. ??There are always pros and cons in every decision. ?? Smooth surfaces can lead to bottoming out, displacements…and historically higher capsular contracture specially in subglandular placement (although luckly the new innovative smooth surfaces have proved to have a very low rate of CC) We also know that textured and polyurethane surfaces can trigger as well late seromas and BIA-ALCL. —>Where bottoming out can be minimized with the proper technique ( fixing new IMF, tight pocket etc), BIA-ALCL and late seromas remain the worst complications and can’t be prevented beforehand. ??Studies need to be done in large cohorts and be long term to have proper comparisons, and if possible, multicentric #science

Wet and dry cup test with hygroscopic materials: what do we really measure? by Yuliang Zou, Elea Moss, Laurent Brochard, & Philippe Coussot. The permeability to vapor is a critical characteristic for clothes or construction materials as it governs the way the material “breathes” or regulates ambient humidity. The standard test for measuring this permeability to vapor is the wet or dry cup test. In this paper we revisit the physical meaning of this measurement. We show that for hygroscopic biobased materials one must take into account the bound water transport by diffusion in the fiber network to properly analyze the test. Self-Consolidating GFRC, what you should be looking for: · Ease of flow: The material should flow and spread under on its own without vibration. ·??Lack of bleed water: The surface should have a sheen, not excessive bleed water. ·??Perfect off the form finish with no vibration. Of course, the form material and release must do their part, but you should be able to cast a part with no fiber showing on the surface and no bugholes or blemishes.
