“Trust arrives on foot and leaves on horseback” ?? We are currently reviewing our health & safety management system at City of London Corporation. As we set our New Corporate Plan for the next 5 ‘Fantastic years’ we need to ensure our safety systems are mapped towards delivering the key business objectives and aligned to our People Strategy. This gives us in the safety team an opportunity to recalibarate two key elements of how we do things - innovation and trust! The below is a key example of why we need to earn trust! Two out of these these four things, 50% ?? are down to trust! Leaders must create Psychological safety to encourage the voices to speak up, then acknowledge the voices take ownership and take action to close the loop!

Active Violence (AV) and EMS response question. As our emergency response network continues to train on and improve our response to active violence situations. As I feel it is important to do, I continually work to use a first-principles method when evaluating how we are doing. I have been trying to conduct research into real-world events where EMS/Fire has responded to AV events and have utilized a rescue task force (RTF) and casualty collection point (CCP) model. If you are away of any real-world case studies, AAR’s, or guidelines on the following topics, please send them my way! 1. Real-world deployment of RTF and CCP 2. Use of triage tags in an AV response 3. How patients are managed within a CCP 4. How to simulate real-world stress and workload in a large scale drill

?? FEMA Updates Authorized Equipment List (AEL) ?? Earlier this month, FEMA’s Grant Programs Directorate adopted a set of 25 changes proposed by the IAB to more closely align their Authorized Equipment List (AEL) with the IAB’s Standardized Equipment List (SEL). The changes included 1 deletion (retrofit kits to convert SCBA to CBRN), multiple changes to search and rescue tools (including incorporation of the new NFPA 1960 standard), and several small technology refresh items. Several new items were added, including Video Analytics Software, 3 new cyber items, Standoff Passive Chemical Detectors, Portable Ultrasound Units, and Blood Administration Equipment. How Long Do You Allow Zones to Be Disabled and/or Put Off-Line? In most jurisdictions, the (AHJ) needs to be notified if a Fire Alarm System is impaired for more than eight (8) hours. Unfortunately, the practice of allowing certain parts of Commercial Fire Alarm Systems to remain disabled and/or on test for months and/or for even years at a time is commonly found. Given that, the AHJ needs to be notified by verifiable means and the subscriber needs to authorize the alarm contractor so that they can correct the impairment. To the extent that the subscriber will not allow you to perform the work needed, it must be escalated to additional AHJ notification and/or cancellation of the account. Fire and Rescue Services (FRSs) in England attended 249,655 false alarms - the largest number since 2011.?? ?? Key stats from 2023: ??177,550 false alarms were due to faulty apparatus, up 6.6% from last year. ??65,562 were classed as 'good intent'—down 6.2% from 2022. ??6,543 malicious false alarms were recorded, a slight increase of 1.8% from the previous year.
