First and foremost, a massive thank you to Erika Jefferson and the entire BWISE team for orchestrating such a dynamic and enriching event. It was truly an honor to participate as a speaker and share the stage with so many inspiring leaders and professionals. SHPE 2024 - A Story of Leadership & Some Feedback One of the most memorable moments from SHPE 2024 happened on the first day of the career fair. It was 4:00 AM ??, and a line had already started forming, filled with eager attendees hoping to get ahead. By 5:30 AM, the crowd had grown restless ??, and the tension was palpable. That’s when Saad Bahlouli stepped up and did something remarkable. With a voice full of courage ??, he called out to the crowd: “Let’s be civilized and turn this into a single file before they have to manage us.” His words cut through the early morning chaos, and what happened next was inspiring—a roaring applause ?? erupted from the crowd as everyone followed his lead. In that moment, Saad demonstrated true leadership, turning what could have been a stressful situation into one of unity and mutual respect ??. It’s individuals like Saad who remind us of the importance of community and stepping up when it matters most. These are the moments we should celebrate at SHPE—where leadership isn’t just about titles but about action ??. Aside from lining up during ungodly hours ?? and some logistical issues with luncheon tickets ???, there were definitely areas for improvement. Hopefully, future conventions can address these challenges to enhance the overall experience! On a positive note, I loved Qualcomm's approach to talent acquisition—roaming the convention hall, handpicking individuals who resonated with their values on a personal level. A unique and effective strategy! ?? To all the companies I connected with—thank you! It truly means the world to me to have met so many talented and deserving individuals making a difference in the world! ??? #Leadership #EventFeedback #Community #SHPE2024 #CareerFair #Inspiration #Qualcomm

You're not going to want to miss our September Career Fair at Vancouver Island University! Employers and recruiters - we have just opened up employer table registration for our next large-scale Vancouver Island University Career Fair, taking place on September 13, 2024! This event takes place at the start of the new school year, when many students will be looking for employment, career, internship, and volunteer opportunities. This will be a great opportunity to promote any employment or internship opportunities with your organization to new students or soon to be graduating students looking for their career post academia. Our previous career fair in September 2023 was a great success, drawing in over 650 VIU students and alumni from various programs during a 4-hour period. This event provided an excellent platform for over 60 different employers to connect with a diverse and talented pool of candidates. The fair not only offered meaningful networking opportunities but also received an employer satisfaction rating of 87%. In a post-event survey, 31 respondents (half of the employers that were in attendance) anticipated to hire 40-68+ students as a result of this event. To ensure that our department is able to continue organizing events of this magnitude, and to be able to continue providing the best level of career services that we can to VIU students and our employer partners, we will be charging?$100+fees/table?for this upcoming career fair. In addition to being open to VIU students and alumni from all programs, members of the general public will have access to attend, to ensure that our employer partners have the opportunity to connect with as many potential candidates as possible, and that your organizations are more than satisfied with the success of this event. We only have 75 employer tables available for this 3-hour event, and I am anticipating these spots to fill-up quickly (we have already thirteen tables sell since email invites were sent), so please let me know if your organization is interested in participating and I will send you an Eventbrite link! (I am also organizing several other events in the next two months which will allow employers seeking to connect with specific student groups about internship and volunteer opportunities to do so - please let me know if you would be interested in any such event as well!)
On September 13, from 11 am to 2 pm, there will be a Career Fair taking place in the VIU Gymnasium that is open to alumni and students from all Vancouver Island University programs and members of the public! Students, alumni and public members will be able to connect with over 70 different employers, such as: - BC Parks - Grant Thornton LLP (Canada) - Kinetic - Loaves & Fishes Community Food Bank Office and Warehouse - Marriott International - McElhanney - MNP - Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce - NPower Canada - Smythe LLP - and many more! VIU students, alumni, and faculty and public members can register for this event via the following link: https://lnkd.in/gyJyvmuv This event is organized by the VIU Career Studio, in partnership with the VIU Alumni Association.

Society of Women Engineers ( SWE ) is empowering organizations to unlock the full potential of their women employees by providing them with exposure and learning opportunities. Recently, Collins Aerospace had the chance to showcase their story at a career fair. It was heartening to see our employees speak passionately about their experiences and take pride in their achievements in the aviation industry. Our peers from other companies who visited our booth were equally impressed by our capabilities and the amazing products that are transforming lives. Thanks to our wonderful colleagues for making this event a memorable one. Check out this quick snippet from the event! #SWE #womenintech #aviationindustry #careerfair #Linkedinconnections #linkedincommunity #linkedingroups #linkedIn #HRinnovation
