It's one thing to generate learnings, it's another to process "what have we learned" and "what can we do with that knowledge." Some of you have heard of Pause and Reflects, others may refer to it as after action reviews. We call it Learning Checks - when you intentionally bring the right stakeholders together to interpret findings and action plan based on it. You can read more about it at our blog here: https://lnkd.in/eNkR-dDt

I wish I knew these 2 methods before doing 100s of hours of research The SQ3R Method & Cornell Notes Recently, I read "The Science of Self Learning" It mentions many techniques, but these 2 are what changed everything for me Unlocking my ability to learn complex topics effectively ---> The SQ3R Method There are 5 components to it 1. Survey - Get a general overview, examine the structure, chapters, headings, subheadings, objectives etc. Use it as a framework to structure goals and outline what you'll learn 2. Question - Prepare to learn, form a question for each of the points that you surveyed. The headings, subheadings, etc. What specific answers are you wanting to find? Questioning builds your anticipation to learn 3. Reading - looking for answers to your questions. This is where most people start and fail because they lack a foundation Intention will help you be more clear on what you want from the information 4. Recite - Ask questions about what your reading, take notes and underline or highlight key points Restate these phrases into your own words 5. Review - Go back over material you studied, write more questions over the important parts and do any practice that helps you drill down information This helps you connect concepts and ideas with bigger concepts ---> Cornell Notes Create two columns split down the middle The right side is for notes, the left side is for key points Under both columns is the summary section Pair this with the SQ3R Method and you will go through all 4 stages of learning Taking notes, editing, analysis, reflection These scientifically-backed strategies can take you to the next level once you apply them If you're an educator, I recommend you read "The Science of Self Learning" It certainly helped my approach when creating info products --- P.S I partner with professionals and streamline every step in creating, launching and scaling online education businesses. Are you patient enough to make an impact? Here’s a familiar feeling for L&D pros: the desire to jump in and start developing a learning solution right away. It makes sense—after you’ve received a directive and heard from your SMEs, what’s stopping you from getting started right away? But when we move too quickly on a learning project, we’re often running on assumptions and missing out on finding the right solution for our learner audience. Field research tools allow you to slow down and spend more time thinking about the problem so you can find the right solution. Field research tools help you get to know your learners and the problems they face much more intimately. That way you know you’re delivering learning that they’re willing to spend more time with and will drive business results. Our article, Field Research: 4 Powerful Observation Methods and How to Use Them, walks you through four methods that you should absolutely consider. Here are the main takeaways... 1. The core field research tools we use for our learning-design process are surveys, A/B testing, interviews and focus groups, and observational studies. 2. Comprehensive field research consists of quantitative and qualitative research and assesses learners’ attitudes and beliefs as well as behaviors. 3. Field research is about understanding problems, not finding solutions. It’s tempting to jump to solutions during the research stage, but you run the risk of misdiagnosing the true root cause. Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) is a mix of processes, habits, and tools that empower individuals to explore, curate, consume, capture, distill, organize, connect, and develop ideas at scale. #PKM Let me share some insights about this! ?? The goal of PKM is not to memorize everything, but to create an external "second brain" where knowledge is readily accessible when needed. It helps you go from passively consuming to active learning and sense-making. #PersonalKnowledgeManagement A PKM system enables deep thinking, introspection, and accelerated learning. It's about leveraging your knowledge, contrary to isolated notes scattered across various mediums. #KnowledgeManagement The scope of PKM goes from selecting what to consume to developing wisdom. It's about creating a personal Knowledge Graph that grows over time, with its value compounding. #KnowledgeGraph Atomic notes are foundational for building a solid, scalable, and maintainable Personal Knowledge Graph. They focus on a single idea or concept, making them easier to connect and reuse. #AtomicNotes #Writing The Zettelkasten method is one of the best approaches for thinking and writing. It focuses on connecting ideas rather than accumulating isolated pieces of information. But it's not for everyone. Unless... #Zettelkasten A PKM system should include: content (notes, images, metadata), tools, conventions, workflows, and optionally templates and automation. It needs to be deeply integrated into your life to reap the benefits. #PKM There are many levels of PKM proficiency, from basic note-taking to fully integrating PKM into all activities. Start simple and add complexity only when needed. https://lnkd.in/eAv2XASU Effective PKM involves a balance between capturing information (i.e., literature notes) and creating your own insights (i.e., permanent notes). Regular review and refinement are essential. #NoteTaking Don't forget that the 'P' in PKM means PERSONAL. Your system should be adaptable and evolve with your needs and learning style over time.
