You might know a few undersea creatures, but have you heard of a Ghost Shark? Co-developed by #DSTG, Royal Australian Navy, and Anduril Industries, Ghost Shark is a stealthy, long-range autonomous undersea capability, which can conduct persistent intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. The first sovereign prototype, Ghost Shark 'Alpha', was unveiled earlier this year. Chief of Navy Vice Admiral, Mark Hammond, said the Ghost Shark will be a crucial tool in protecting Australia. ?? During World War I, the NRS (Neil Robertson stretcher) gained widespread use as the Royal Navy employed it for evacuating casualties from navy vessels that presented significant challenges due to narrow passages and confined spaces, making conventional stretchers impractical for such scenarios. As a result, the wounded were either manually carried or transported using the Neil-Robertson stretcher, which provided secure envelopment for easy maneuverability through steep ladders, small hatchways, and narrow passages. Additionally, the Neil-Robertson stretcher offered the advantage of doubling as a splint. Unlike some modern counterparts used in cave or field rescues, the NRS was not originally designed to be used in conjunction with other extraction devices such as half boards. Ya’ know, I’ve sometimes wondered… with the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Space Force… we should have a new military branch called the Fire Force. A huge fleet of federally owned planes of all sizes that fight wildfires or large fires in urban areas. The USA should have a large fleet of planes ready to attack these fires anywhere in the country. Like the Air Force for wildfires. Also a large contingency of men and women to assist as spotters for the air assets and people who can assist existing firefighters on the ground. The USA Fire Force. The wildfires are consuming and destroying so much every year. Time for a bold solution. JMO.

Although I have not yet formed my own opinion about this idea, I LOVE discussing possible solutions to the long term management of all natural and man-made disasters. Whatever the cause, the impact to the lives of those touched by disaster is undeniable. Everyone should be working together to find the safest, fastest, and most effective response solutions, no matter the disaster. Communication, discussion, planning and preparation must be happening before the crisis hits.
