?? Exciting Industrial Week in London! ?? Last week, I had the privilege of bringing together the Global Industrial & Natural Resources leadership team at Russell Reynolds Associates in London. For me, it was truly inspiring to see the collaboration among leaders from our five global practices—Automotive, Chemicals & Materials, Energy, Industrial Infrastructure & Services, and Industrial Goods—alongside our regional leaders from the Americas, Europe, and APAC, and our Global Knowledge Leader. We explored global industry trends and their impact on executive leadership, focusing particularly on the intersection of Industrial and Private Capital. This area presents significant growth opportunities and aligns perfectly with our comprehensive leadership services, from assessment and search to accelerated transition support, mentoring, top team development, and board services. A highlight of our gathering was meeting with senior representatives from ten of the world's most renowned private capital and infrastructure investors. Our discussions reinforced the critical importance of leadership, with a keen interest in our latest insights and offerings. Additionally, we engaged with emerging talents within Russell Reynolds Associates, gaining fresh perspectives that were both inspiring and energizing. This week has been packed with valuable insights as the LCap team attended several events across the UK, sharing the key findings from this year’s Leadership Capital Report. The discussions that followed were both thought-provoking and engaging, focusing on critical themes like adapting to change, evolving teams, shifting strategies, and the importance of leadership adaptability. A few recurring questions came up: What’s holding us back from reaching our value-creation goals? How do we evaluate whether our current leadership is the right fit to deliver on our plans? And most importantly, how do we identify the roadblocks and apply the right solutions to drive success? While we may not have all the answers at DRAX Affinity, one trend became crystal clear in the report: the growing importance of the CTO role. The need for strong technology leadership has never been more pressing. 30% of top-quartile PE-backed businesses had a CTO or technology leader at exit. We’ve worked with companies that prioritise finding the right tech leadership, and the results speak for themselves—these businesses are 30% more successful in digital transformation and 25% more likely to launch new digital products. ?? Together with the TU Wien – Academy for Continuing Education we had the great privilege to conduct an insightful learning journey on 'Leading Complexity' for A1 Telekom Austria Group! ?? Over three half-days, our research team delved into various aspects of complexity: ?? Part 1: 'Strategic Ambidexterity' with Wolfgang H. Güttel explored environmental complexity, focusing on the balance between core business and innovation. ?? Part 2: 'Organizational Ambidexterity' with Johanna Grünauer examined different perceptions and managing complexity through simple rules. ?? Part 3: 'Leadership Ambidexterity' with Astrid Kleinhanns-Rollé emphasized on the need for leaders to recognize, balance, and orchestrate paradoxical demands of the complexities of their leadership. Participants identified dynamics and paradoxes in their own strategic, organizational and leadership processes. Using an assessment of their leadership effectiveness, they developed areas for growth and action plans to better manage their Leadership Value Chains -?Execution, Engagement, Enhancement, and Enforcement. Once again, Ditte Graa Wulff and Kirsten van Dam were invited to join the executive program at INSEAD Executive Education and CEDEP - Executive Development – Fontainebleau, a global executive education club, along with Jens Meyer and Nana von Bernuth. We shared our approach to empowering organisations through our Manyone approach, and our tools for collaborative strategic foresight at the beautiful Campus Chateauform, Cély. The “Uncovering New Perspectives” workshop is aimed at equipping leaders with the tools to think differently, explore external influences, and create anticipatory images, and ideas about the future. This approach helps leaders understand the potential implications of their present choices and strategies. Engaging with insightful leaders from renowned companies such as L'Oréal , Bekaert, La Poste Groupe, NNE, and Renault was truly inspiring. The dialogues were rich, and the exchange of ideas reaffirmed the importance of looking beyond our immediate environment to drive innovation and resilience.
