If you're headed to Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables' #WMSESS next week in SF, this panel could not be more timely. My colleague who leads our global project engineering team, Alex Roedel speaks with customers, designs the projects, and tracks the performance of 100 GW of Nextracker Inc. assets with zeal. Join Alex, customers Lightsource bp, Clearway Energy Group, and other senior leaders to discuss the challenges and solutions of #extremeweather: the topic of our times in the energy transition.
Extreme weather events like hail, high winds, storms, and flooding are on the rise, posing significant challenges to the solar industry. At Nextracker, we are dedicated to creating innovative products that mitigate weather-related damage, such as our groundbreaking Hail Pro? technology. ? We are looking forward to discussing this topic next week at Wood Mackenzie's 2024 Solar & Energy Storage Summit! Nextracker's VP of Design & Engineering, Alex Roedel, will join the panel on Mitigating Risk for Extreme Weather Resilience, moderated by Kevin Jacobs, Senior Director at WoodMac. Alongside industry experts Lorena Torres from Clearway Energy Group, Oscar Mauricio Araujo from Canadian Solar Inc., Molly Brown from GenPro Energy Solutions, and Lindsey Guinther Lightsource bp, Alex will discuss strategies like predictive storm detection, enhanced solar cell designs, automated stowage, and hail mitigation technologies. ? Register here to attend the event and don't miss the panel on June 13 from 2:00-2:45 PM: https://vrsk.co/3Vf80i7 #ExtremeWeather #WeatherResilience #RenewableEnergy

LPPC joined the United States Energy Association Energy-Tech Connect Forum yesterday, where Tom Falcone, LPPC’s President-Elect, and Javier Fernandez, LPPC Vice Chair and CEO of Omaha Public Power District, shared insights on load growth alongside Dan R. Brouillette, President and CEO of Edison Electric Institute, and Marc Reitter, President and COO of AEP Ohio. ? Javier noted that as the CEO of a utility that must double its generation capacity by the decade's end to meet unprecedented demand,?he is encouraged by the positive economic implications of expansion. And although dealing with increasing load growth can be challenging?for utilities, it’s undeniable that?utilities play?an essential role?in fostering economic progress. ? When the conversation turned to?how leaders in Washington, D.C.,?could support utilities as they work to meet demand,?Tom shared examples of public power systems that are building?new infrastructure as fast as possible despite being encumbered by the current system’s inefficiencies. He emphasized the need for streamlined permitting and siting processes to help utilities meet growing demand and advance decarbonization efforts. Thank you to USEA President Mark W. Menezes for hosting yesterday's event and moderating the panel discussion.? #reliability #energyfuture #cleanenergy #energydemand #publicpower

We had a great experience at the recent All Energy Australia conference. Our resident Virtual Power Plant expert, Luc van Duinen spoke to the crowd of industry folks about harnessing the potential of Virtual Power Plants. He outlined how Momentum’s VPP works and its clever features – and we filmed it, so you don’t miss a thing. It’s great if you were ever curious about hearing about VPPs in action.?? And if you’d like to skip to a specific case study that could be relevant to your type of assets, we’ve time coded them below:? ? 3:04 Controllable load – How we shed load to take advantage of spot price rises.?? 4:58 Battery storage system (behind the meter) – How discharging and charging a solar battery at prime times made $3500 in one day.?? 7:30 Battery storage (merchant example) – Using quick reactions to maximise value on even a fairly average day.?? 8:38 Air-conditioning control – How a relatively small air-con unit made around $1000 in a day without compromising comfort levels.??

A big thank you to Rolton Group in particular Peter Rolton and Helen Cadzow for the invite to the UK House of Lords for the Forum for the Built Environment (fbe) discussion. Energy storage, in particular BESS, is a crucial technology to enable our energy transition and should be implemented into all future infrastructure planning. There is still an immense amount of work needed by National Grid to implement at ground level the headline policies and reform they have introduced. We are all looking to those in a position to implement genuine change to make this happen (Ofgem National Grid ESO The Labour Party) - the capital, projects and capabilities are all there and willing, it just needs a strong push over the line. #BESS #UKenergy #energytransition
