Each fall, our Rent-A-Center, Get It Now Stores and Home Choice Stores coworkers help fight hunger locally by collecting monetary donations toward our annual “Fill the Fridge” campaign; all proceeds go to food banks in the areas where our stores operate. We’re proud to share that this year, Fill the Fridge raised more than $75,000 in support of hunger relief. Congratulations to our three store teams in Williston, N.D., Pontiac, Mich., and Blaine, Minn., who raised the most money in their divisions — and thank you to everyone who helped support the campaign!

We’ll be helping engineering firms take advantage of the new law in New York State that allows ESOPs to own up to and including 100% of a firm. We will cover: 1) how an ESOP can help you meet your goals in a) succession, b) recruitment, c) retention – and d) enhancing the long term sustainability of a firm; 2) what makes a good ESOP candidate; 3) what are the tax benefits you keep hearing about for the company and the sellers; 4) how to structure and finance an ESOP transaction; and 5) related legal issues. Paying it forward
Wakefern Food Corp. has always been equal parts heart ?? and ambition. So, with the close of the successful 2024 Wakefern Showcase, we were proud to partner with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and donate nearly four trucks of fresh foods and groceries from the Showcase supermarket displays. These donated items will help as many as 20,000 families in our region. Thanks to all the team members who volunteered to pack and load – and to the CFBNJ for their ongoing commitment and creativity in the fight against hunger.

A few years ago, DonationScout set out to streamline restaurant fundraisers even more with a new ePayments system. We aimed to simplify the payment process with seamless online transactions. However, we discovered that while restaurants wanted online payments, fundraiser organizations preferred traditional checks, despite initially expressing a preference for electronic donations. This aligns with Henry Ford's insight: "If I would have asked people what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse." Often, consumers don’t know what they truly need. This led us to pivot. DonationScout is now acts as an intermediary, allowing restaurants to process payments online, while ensuring fundraiser organizations received physical checks. This experience highlights the importance of iteration in product development. At DonationScout, we embrace challenges as opportunities to innovate and better serve our partners in the community fundraising landscape.

Performance Leader's Feedback for Good program sees us donate up to 2.5% of our software licence fees back to three charities nominated by the client. It's really simple idea: every time someone provides real-time feedback to a colleague using our fast feedback platform, they get to drop a virtual token into one of three charity buckets. At the end of the year, we donate to the three charities, in proportion to the allocated tokens. (A bit like buying a burger at Grill'd or shopping at Waitrose, except our clients choose their charities).
