How can #prototypes help to craft alternative #futures? ?? In our BMBF-funded joint research project "PROTOTYP" (University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Technical University of Munich and Deutsches Museum Nürnberg), we investigated the role of prototypes as communication medium of the new. Our new (open source) publication looks into the clash of corporate/mainstream futures and alternatives in prototyping. Futures are linked to established socio-technical imaginaries. Here, prototypes not only promise futures, but assume them (e.g. flying cars or autonomous driving in future mobility). ?? ??
