Architects and planners typically rely on past experiences and exclusive methods to determine the allocation of space and planning costs. However, the actual space allocations and physical attributes of laboratory and workplace environments require further exploration, highlighting the need for more research. To address this knowledge gap, this study compared three medical research facilities’ architectural, casework, and module properties to identify essential space allocations, physical attributes, and future research directions. May PCF Meeting Date ?? - 31st of May ! As all Monthly PCF meetings, this is a hybrid event. We are eager to connect with different ideas and concepts! Participate in the discussion! Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, TU Delft Urban river spaces are increasingly acknowledged as vital green-blue corridors and public spaces. While embracing this trend, spatial designers, planners and decision-makers face the challenge of capturing the specificities and complexities of riverside urban areas. An essential part of that challenge is how boundaries are drawn, as the resulting spatial units of analysis and decision-making can have a considerable impact on the sustainability of urban riverspace transformations.?CRiSp (City River Spaces) is an open-source software that automates the process of spatial delineation, and leverages spatial-temporal big data for scalable analysis,?and thereby enable new research avenues such as global cross-case analyses. ? We are eagerly looking forward to join us in this monthly meeting at the BK building or Online! ANNOUNCEMENT TIME! Charrette is happy to share that the next upcoming issue will be an OPEN CALL. Expressions of interest deadline: 30th April 2024 See here for details: https://lnkd.in/e_fP8t_u Theme: Where to go? What to do? Since its founding, Charrette has been a space in which architectural educators and researchers, students of architecture and practitioners can articulate and reflect upon contemporary architectural pedagogies. We find ourselves in a moment where the space to discuss, disseminate and learn from each other is more important than ever. To mark the anniversary of aae (association of architectural educators) and Charrette we are looking for expressions of interest for papers to contribute to an open call. The global climate of architectural education, but also the wider architectural industry and profession finds itself at a point of change. How can we educate and prepare next generations to tackle such global issues as climate injustice, ecological breakdown, inclusivity, ethical practice, decolonising curricula? How can we cease to replicate conventional modes of history-, theory- and place-making and explore points of radical innovation in architectural education and the current centrality of the design studio to create dialogue around its future direction? We hope papers submitting to this open call will come from a broad range of contextual backgrounds, cover a broad spectrum of topics, and look ahead to futures of architectural pedagogy.
