We are continuing our internship spotlight series this week by spotlighting first-year member Isaac Mejía Ortiz! Isaac spent his summer working for ABC Supply Co. Inc. as an intern developing an inventory tracking model to optimize minimum, and maximum levels, using real-time data to forecast demand. By conducting a thorough analysis of sales and inventory reports, Isaac identified trends that allowed him to determine optimal stock levels based on historical demand and seasonal fluctuations. Isaac’s continuous hard work awarded him acknowledgement from the Regional Manager and West Coast VPs affirming the impact of his work in generating customer satisfaction! During his time, he was able to hone his collaboration skills by working with cross-functional teams, as well as effectively face shifting demands and new project requirements. Great work in this challenging role Isaac!

During the four weeks of my internship, I have worked in receiving and processing merchandise, performed a flow of merchandise, and assisted in conducting inventory. Three times a week we receive new merchandise that must be processed and tagged. The flow of merchandise entails moving merchandise to expand spacing and ensure proper flow. This week we conducted inventory which allows us to track stock for documentation purposes. Through these processes, I have learned the importance of accuracy and efficiency.?

Good morning! As I wrap up the first week of my internship at Legacy Retail under Todd Seaman, I want to share what I've learned so far! ?? Advice: I learned the importance of knowing what you sell! Everyone in the Legacy is not only knowledgeable about the product they sell, but a consumer, and passionate about the brand/product. ?? Technological Learning: I've begun working on a production tracker to organize information across multiple Excel files into a single file, for convenience and storage. This task has taught me about the shorthand used in these files and how to effectively use it to save time & effort. That's all for this week!

As I complete my 10th week of my Global People Internship at Walmart, I am grateful to have had abundant opportunities and incredible experiences. One of my most impactful experiences was a tour of Walmart Store 5260 that I embarked on with my fellow Global People Interns. This tour not only broadened my understanding of my project but also offered several key takeaways: 1. The importance of inclusion Did you know Walmart offers a sensory friendly environment during the hours of 8 AM to 10 AM in all Walmart U.S. and Puerto Rico store locations? This is to provide an optimal experience for all customers, regardless of their needs. This is just one of the many displays of “service to the customer” I witnessed while touring Store 5260. 2. The power of associate ownership Walmart is actively involved in giving back to communities, and I got to discover how Store 5260 encourages their associates to take ownership of fundraising initiatives. Store 5260 decided to take on the challenge of raising money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in many creative ways, such as selling snacks and t-shirts next to the breakroom. It was such a unique way to learn about how associates can play a direct role in supporting their community. 3. The value of growth opportunities The leadership board stood out to me on the tour. The board has associates' faces on the wall to display the store hierarchy, helping to put names to faces, and showing associates what their next growth opportunity at Walmart might be. What was most impactful about the board was when Store Manager, Carlie Dodge highlighted that almost every person in a leadership role on that board had been recently promoted, and that the leadership team reflects the diverse community they serve. This is a great example of how associates can see leadership from people who look like them and recognize potential roles they can grow into, all while encouraging associates to “strive for excellence.” Of course, a special shout-out to Matt Meyers, Ph.D. for putting this internship experience together, and Cody Katzer for giving insight into the customer and associate experience. Witnessing these initiatives firsthand has truly reinforced my admiration for Walmart’s commitment to inclusivity and community support.

Brooklyn McCally love seeing your updates! I confess that I am a data and math nerd, so this topic is dear to my heart! While most decisions are made with very emotional and subjective processes, the BEST decisions are formulated with data. The WHY should always be rooted in clear data, NOT because it feels right OR because last time it/we failed. Data provides the ROOT of the decision BUT ALSO the structure and management matrix for the execution process to guide us along the way to successful implementation. This is a key point as we begin to deploy AI tools in our decision-making processes. For Auto-Bake's business of high-speed bakery equipment design, MACHINE LEARNING is able to aggregate and analyze large data sets from tens to hundreds of different input points along a production line to capably perform autonomous, incremental adjustments to optimize production in real-time without operator assistance. Successes and failures are evaluated sometimes in milliseconds and immediate adjustments are automatically made. Over a long block of time our process is optimized. I also love that you are in an environment at Accenture where mentorship with open and transparent dialogue is supported. There is a balance between struggling over an obstacle on your own and knowing when to get immediate help. Taking the data driven example above, if our customer's production line is down, and let's say that line makes $10,000/hr, speed to solution is mission critical. This means if any of our technicians need assistance they know to ask immediately. However, let's say that you are struggling over how to illustrate a data set in the type of graph that best tells your WHY, do you go to your supervisor immediately or do you use other tools like the HELP function or HOW TO videos from the internet first? PEOPLE are not MACHINES so how we interact with each other requires more than data; we require SOCIAL IQ. If you keep interrupting your supervisor OR best tech resource EVERY time you get stumped: 1) Analytically you are making them less efficient at their job and thus costing the company money. 2) Socially you have become annoying and appear incapable of growing/maturing as a professional. Stay humble, work hard, and be confident in your persistence. Failure is a product of quitting, and success is a product of many decisions made NOT to quit. Find love in everything that you do, and you will be successful at what you love! I will NEVER quit on YOU, and love you more than you will ever truly know!
I am half way through my internship and have experienced significant growth! In this video, I share the goals I’ve achieved, key takeaways, and the invaluable mentorship that has guided me along the way. #thisishowweintern #waltonsupplychain Brian Fugate J.B.
