Medical coding shouldn't be looked at. I want to work at home job because I don't want to work out there. It should be a job with passion, compassion, detail and so much more. Medical coding job is a job to take seriously, not just a job you just want to put code. There's more than any code; you have to make sure to put the proper code for medicine, accidents, diagnosis, procedures, and more. Recheck your work before submitting. Breaking into the medical coding field as a newly certified coder (CPC-A) has been both an exhilarating and challenging journey. Despite the numerous postings for medical coding jobs, it's disheartening to see that newly certified coders with medical field experience often get overlooked. We hear a constant refrain about the abundance of opportunities in medical coding, yet when it comes to giving CPC-As a chance, the reality is quite different. It's a paradox: how can we gain the experience needed to excel if we're not given the opportunity to start? Many of us, including myself, have gone the extra mile to refine our skills by completing Practicode and other practical training programs. This dedication reflects our commitment to the profession and our readiness to contribute effectively. Employers, please consider the potential and passion we bring to the table. Giving CPC-As an opportunity not only helps us grow but also enriches your team with eager, knowledgeable professionals ready to make a difference. #MedicalCoding #CPC #NewBeginnings #MedicalCoders #JobSearch #CareerGrowth

If you're struggling to find an entry level medical coding job, try looking for jobs that may be coding-adjacent. If you search for a coding skill set such as "ICD-10" you will bring up ALL the jobs that are looking for someone with that skill set, even if the title isn't "medical coder." Yes -- some of them will be things like nurse auditors that you might not qualify for, but others might be jobs in the revenue cycle that wouldn't come up under a "medical coder" or "CPC-A" search. Just one tip to bring up more options! #medicalcoding #medicalcoder #medicalcodingjobs #medicalbilling #medicalbillingandcoding #aapc #medicalcodingstudent #healthinformation #healthdata #keeponcodingon

I am passionate about working in the medical coding field. I initially used my science background to enter this profession. However, lately, I have been feeling a bit of difficulty in my job. I feel like I'm stuck with the same medical coding knowledge and I know there are many more opportunities for growth and advancement in this field. The medical coding industry is a crucial part of the healthcare sector, functioning as the translator of medical services into standardized codes. Let's break down how it works and the roles of the key players: How it Works?? 1. Medical encounter: A healthcare provider (doctor, hospital) diagnoses and treats a patient. 2. Documentation: The provider dictates or writes notes about the encounter in the patient's medical record. 3. Coding: A medical coder translates the medical record into specific codes using established classification systems like ICD-10-CM (diagnoses) and CPT (procedures). 4. Billing: The codes are used to create a bill that is sent to the patient's insurance company. 5. Reimbursement: The insurance company reviews the codes and determines the amount they will reimburse the healthcare provider. #medicalcoding, #healthcare, #hcp, #PCC, #ICD10, #SSC, #HIMSS, #CDI, #trendsinchrcoding, #medicalcareers, #healthcarejobs, #medicalbilling, #codemastery, #hcpacademy, #codingcertification #medicalcodingjobs #medicaljobopportunities #medicalcareerjobs #healthcarejobopportunities #clinicaljobs #codingjobs #medicalcareer.

BCBS Special Investigations Unit - Fraud, Waste & Abuse | Certified Professional Coder | Certified Endocrine Coder | National Certified Insurance & Coding Specialist
HIM, Medical Coders, Medical Auditors: Is there a reason why Hospitals don’t want to train their new hires? I can only speak for medical coders and auditors. But in the past 3 years, I’ve basically been thrown into a position in a way that’s like “alright good luck to ya, here is all your work”. Maybe I am old school? But, across the board, a 2 week training period was standard. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. As a medical coder, sometimes we don’t know the new software/EMR system, and we cannot do our job without knowing how to efficiently navigate through the software. As a medical coder, sometimes we are hired to code for a new specialty that we may not have as much experience in, this is why we have auditors/educators. I’m only trying to start a discussion here, and I know I have a lot of connections on here who are HIM and coding managers, why is this happening? Why are we not getting proper training? You’re basically setting us up for failure at this point. That not only hurts me as a new hire, that hurts the department as a whole for having to hire, fire, hire again. It is also a very bad reflection on the leadership in that department. I am currently not even allowed to directly email my auditor/educator, and to me I find this very odd. This is their job, they are here to educate me as a coder and ensure my success with the hospital I am currently working for. I’m lucky to get maybe 1 hour of training with a new position. This is just not efficient enough for this type of career. This career is very focused on attention to details. Which is where the auditor/educator comes into play. Maybe I’m just frustrated, I don’t know, but this is just not the way it used to be. I cannot efficiently do my job without a proper training schedule put into place. #medicalcoding #coding #HIM #healthcare #training
