Watch the Asia Society Hong Kong Center discussion “Voices from the #GlobalSouth” - featuring #AsiaGlobalFellows of The University of Hong Kong - The first panel, which I moderated, focused on how #Egypt (Mohamed Ibrahim Hafez), #Georgia (Nona Mamulashvili), #India (Prasoon Sharma), and #Fiji (Ana Tuiketei) are navigating the tricky #geopolitics of a fragmenting world roiled by the #ChinaUS competition - Key message: The challenge for national leaders is to exercise #agency so that they don’t have to choose between one side or the other but can #choosethemselves.

A Chinese scholar in political science provides a real assessment on the question of Taiwan reunification. Regrettably Australians don’t see or hear these perspectives as the MSM and political classes cannot come to terms with the decline of the west. One of Weiwei’s key points is around the industrial capacity of the US and by inference, all the western democracies. Neo liberalism over nearly 50 years, has utterly gutted our industrial capacity. In Australia, even the beds we sleep in now come from the PRC. Australia must rapidly adapt to the multi polar world and the end of US hegemony or risk everything.

Only by understanding each other can the US and China avoid a fate worse than any 20th century conflict.? https://lnkd.in/ghudFxtd
