Chief Executive Officer at UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual

I’m proud to see UnitedHealthcare's Surest health plan highlighted in the The Wall Street Journal. This article illustrates why my family – and 90% of Surest members – renew their plan year after year. I believe the Surest model is a gamechanger that has the potential to transform how people interact with and access health care. Studies show that employers are realizing multiyear savings with Surest while offering members better access and lower costs. What stands out to you as the most compelling aspect of Surest? For me, it’s that Surest empowers people to be consumers, so they can compare their options through the kind of simple digital shopping experience they’ve grown accustomed to in other industries. For me I have to say having accesss to my benefits at my fingertips for: pharmacy, co-payments, questions. This has come in so handy because I had to go in for an MRI and X-ray both times the provider tried to charge me $750 and $1500 at the time of appointment which I would have paid out of pocket but I was able to check my benefits in the office. I read it as $30 and $400 which is quite the difference when paying out of pocket, and to obtain the refund takes a long time so I would be out of that money. I was able to ask in the app the Surest rep and get a confirmation code and had the receptionist call to confirm. I was so satisfied with my plan and that’s just the first part I get so many benefits and I am so happy with the surest plan. I’m always telling my friends and family how good my benefits are, and I have a family member who works at a competitor and the healthcare benefits are not as good as mine. Very happy!

I'm paying for COBRA right now just to keep my family on the Surest plan. I had an HDHP plan with HSA for over 20 years and was constantly frustrated with the cost of care for my family. I made the switch to Surest 4 years ago and I never want to look back. It's such a blessing to our family.

That's easy, Daniel Kueter it's the simplicity. All this talk about transparency means nothing when it merely comes in the form of confusing disclosed fee schedules. Who knows how much of anything you'll need to become well again? With Surest...one number, and thats it...plan for it and you're done, no worrying about the rogue anesthesia bill coming out of nowhere to ruin Christmas or family Spring Break. Best coverage I've ever had, bar none. Congrats on creating the original game changer...

Dan, its about empowerment. The consumer is the single most powerful force in our economy, driving over 60% of the economy and until now, they have been all but shut out of the process in health care decision making due to the lack of information. This will change the landscape of the health care industry for years to come.

I pick surest every year because of the lower premium and no deductible. Other benefits are specialist search and covering acupuncture etc Even when I was frustrated by the extra work I had to do in the early years as providers gotfamiliar with surest -- ie providers assuming procedures and hospitalizations were covered automatically, and I had to get in the habit of activating these extras (difficult as a neurodiverse person navigating multiple new variables) -- I still found the out-of-pocket costs to be lower, and appreciated that I could pay for the largest proportion of the activated procedures through pretax payroll deductions. I had to get used to checking prices before going to specialists like derm, so I could find one that has a lower copay, instead of going to the one my PCP recommended. the app makes this specialist search very easy. I found someone that meets the criteria I want and is easy to get to. I appreciate that services like acupuncture, radiology, xrays are covered..... I would love for the acupuncture copay to return to $15 ... The current $50 copay is tough on the budget for a service I find incredibly helpful for soothing my sensitive Neurodiverse nervous system Thanks for asking for feedback!

I hesitate every year and have yet to chose it. With a husband who has a serious chronic illness and can't just go to any specialist along with a daughter with some health issues it seemed overwhelming and confusing to me. We are not in a position to search for lower cost specialists or any of that. It seemed like it would be a great plan though for someone fairly healthy with run of the mill health issues.

UnitedHealthcare after a month and a half still wouldn't approve my mother's acute rehabilitation. She is 78yrs old and fell. I hope Mr.Daniel Kueter would kindly help us resolve this matter. Over 900 people have signed a petition for United to act. Will they listen? https://chng.it/VdPvSSvqnp

Couldn't agree more Dan. Surest is a game changer and me and my team are super excited because we have final approval to sell Surest fully insured in California! Surest proposals hit the market last week for both new business and renewals!

@UnitedHealthcare, I am publicly calling on you to address the unjust denial of acute inpatient rehabilitation for my 78-year-old mother, Salima Shah. Despite overwhelming medical evidence and pleas from her doctors, nurses, and therapists, you continue to block her access to essential care at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. My mother suffered a devastating fall on September 7th, leaving her unable to walk and in constant pain. While you cite a resolved kidney infection as the basis for denial, you are conveniently ignoring her torn ACL, meniscus tear, and severe osteoarthritis – all confirmed by MRI. For weeks, we've faced roadblocks, appeals denials, and a shocking lack of transparency. It's clear that maximizing profits is taking precedence over my mother's health and well-being. This isn't just about my mom; it's about countless others facing similar denials. Over 800 people have already signed a petition demanding justice for Salima:?https://chng.it/VdPvSSvqnp I urge you to take immediate action to approve Salima's acute rehabilitation. Anything less is unacceptable. #UnitedHealthcareDenial #MedicaidInjustice #InsuranceDenial #PatientsOverProfits #DisabilityRights #EndCorporateGreed #MassachusettsHealthcare
