Too many veterans I hold deep in my heart are not among us this Veterans Day. Their absence, mostly marked by premature deaths, haunts me. This experience is not unique to me and that torments me even more. It's oversimplified and wishful thinking, yet I can't help but think today would look and feel completely different if my loved ones were more closely connected to organizations that served them. I present you the first and only (to the best of my knowledge) consolidated list of traumatic brain injury (TBI) specialty clinical care programs specifically for veterans. Visit https://lnkd.in/eMCvxwN9 for links to each of these organizations' websites. Although it does not appear to directly provide veterans with TBI clinical care, Operation TBI Freedom (Steven J. Smith, CBIS, US Army Veteran), is another organization I should mention. Too many veterans with #TBI are unaware that these programs exist.?Like & share to remind our veterans that their options for wholeness and healing are not limited. #veteran #VeteransDay

**The importance of Caring for Our Veterans and Their Families** As we reflect on the commitment and sacrifices made by our veterans and their families, it becomes increasingly clear that our treatment of these individuals has a profound impact on the recruiting and retention efforts within the Department of Defense and all government agencies. Historically, it has been shown that the way we honor and support our multi-generational veterans—those who have been exposed to toxins, dioxins, radiation, and the harsh realities of warfare—directly influences the willingness of future generations to serve. To truly honor our veterans, we need a shift in mindset. It's not just about supporting them during their service; it’s about adopting a “cradle to grave” mentality regarding their care. This means setting aside a dedicated budget within the Department of Defense to address the specific needs and challenges faced by veterans from various conflicts. From the moment they enlist until the end of their days, we must ensure they receive the care and respect they deserve. Currently, less than 10% of Americans serve in the military, and even fewer are actively engaged today. If we don’t change our approach to veteran care, we may find ourselves reconsidering compulsory service just to fill the ranks. Instead, let’s make military service an honorable and sought-after profession. By improving how we care for our veterans and their families after they leave service, we can set a powerful example for future generations. The quality of our defense relies on a steady flow of qualified service members. By fostering an environment where individuals aspire to serve based on the positive experiences of their family members, we can create a competitive atmosphere that elevates standards rather than lowers them. Let us commit to treating our veterans with the dignity and respect they deserve, not only for their service but also as a foundation for a stronger military and a more secure America. Together, we can lead the way forward and ensure that the sacrifices of our veterans are honored for generations to come. #Veterans #MilitaryService #VeteranCare #DepartmentofDefense #Leadership #Commitment #HonoringService

????HR 8371 ???? is officially on the books. After two years of efforts on both sides, this bill will better support veterans, CAREGIVERS and survivors by improving access to VA health care and benefits, and expanding long-term care programs. It will enhance job training and employment opportunities for veterans, provide critical assistance for homeless veterans, and, last but not least, improve the ability of Native American veterans to achieve homeownership.
?? Exciting News!?? The Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act has officially been signed into law! ?? The Elizabeth Dole Foundation is deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our caregiver community, partners, and members of Congress in helping us achieve this milestone. After nearly two years of dedicated work alongside our coalition partners, we are proud to be on the path to a brighter future for veterans, caregivers, survivors, and their families. This landmark legislation will ensure that our veterans and their families receive the care and support they rightfully deserve. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible partners — Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) , Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) , Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors , Wounded Warrior Project , Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) , The American Legion, DAV (Disabled American Veterans) , I AM ALS , The ALS Association , and AARP — for your collaboration and commitment to this cause. We would also like to express our deepest appreciation to the bipartisan leadership of Chairman Mike Bost, Ranking Member Mark Takano, Chairman Jon Tester, and Ranking Member Jerry Moran for their tireless efforts in making this victory possible. Together, we’re making a real difference for those who have sacrificed so much. Thank you! ??

Arthritis in Veterans: What You Need to Know Millions of Americans deal with arthritis, and veterans are no exception. Over 35% of former military personnel suffer from this condition, especially older veterans, men, and those with significant weight gain. Many develop arthritis from injuries or repeated stress during their service. Fortunately, the VA provides disability benefits based on the severity of the condition, and there are cost-effective programs to help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. ?? Pro Tip: If your arthritis is linked to your service, you may qualify for compensation through the VA. ?? Know someone who might need this? ?”Reposting for further reach!” ???Urgent, Call To Arms! We only have 2 weeks to have your voice heard to establish a pathway for war lung disease! For over two years, Burn Pits 360 has fought tirelessly to get the VA to recognize Constrictive Bronchiolitis (CB) and adopt a specific diagnostic code for this debilitating condition. This is a major victory for Post 9/11 Veterans exposed to toxic burn pits, but we need your help to ensure the VA’s proposed rule properly reflects the needs of Veterans. The VA has opened a 30-day comment period where Veterans, physicians, and advocates can submit feedback on the new CB evaluation criteria. While the rule proposes to add new criteria like maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 Max) and metabolic equivalents, we believe it’s critical to include confirmed biopsy results as a primary diagnostic criterion. We need non invasive technologies and pathways. Your voice matters! We encourage all Veterans, healthcare professionals, and supporters to submit comments to ensure the final rule fully supports those suffering from CB. This is your chance to influence the policies that will determine disability ratings and access to care for countless Veterans. Submit your comment at the link in our bio https://lnkd.in/gtr48AHk Together, we can ensure that Veterans with Constrictive Bronchiolitis receive the recognition, care, and benefits they deserve. Let’s continue the fight! #stopthedelay #pactact Burn Pits 360 ????
