It was just a few minutes past seven in the morning when I stopped at the fueling station to get petrol. I prefer to visit this particular gas station because I find the staff very polite, helpful and they have a smile on their face. And what a nice feeling it was this morning, when the lady at this petrol pump handed me a complimentary copy of today's newspaper. It just brought a smile to my face. Think about it. This is what customer delight and client satisfaction is about, isn't it? What a strategy! Spending a few cents per 'customer' converts them to repeatable 'clients'. Well, then spending money on gifting newspapers is not an expense for the business. How do you post loads? When I was a broker I would include all info...see below 1. Always Post with a Rate: Depending on the pick-up window I would start the rate lower and stairstep up the closer I got to the final pick-up day. I found a lot of brokers overpaid on partials so I could post below market and get it booked. As an example, let's say I can pick the load up tomorrow, Monday or Tuesday. I post the load today for all three days with rate of say $500 and let it marinate probably through mid-day tomorrow. The action from today through tomorrow will impact how much I raise it tomorrow, if crickets I may bump to $800 tomorrow...if I have had action I might only go up to $650. This process would continue until I locked down a carrier. 2. Always Include Details: When a carrier called, they already knew what was expected - there was no gray area (see posting below). The phone calls were shorter, it was really just rate negotiation. Over my career I cannot imagine how many carriers didn't waist their time and mine calling in because based on the load posting they knew they couldn't fulfill the requirements.
