“I lived through the war by accident,” reflected Andy Jampoler. After fleeing two hiding spots, Andy’s mother and grandmother made the difficult choice to leave him as a baby on the steps of a church. Hear Andy share what happened next live tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET.

Remembering the past, shaping our future. Today, on International Holocaust Memorial Day, we reflect on the profound impact of history and renew our commitment to fostering a world built on empathy, tolerance, and justice. As a third-generation Holocaust survivor, the echoes of the past resonate deeply. Let us not forget the atrocities, the resilience of survivors, and the invaluable lessons that history imparts. In these challenging times, as anti-Semitism persists, it is crucial to stand united against hatred and discrimination. Let's honor the memory of those who suffered by promoting inclusivity, understanding, and compassion. At the same time, let's be mindful of using the term "genocide" with care, recognising the systematic approach implemented by the Nazis during the Holocaust to erase the Jewish race. While conflicts unfold globally, drawing a distinction is essential to preserve the gravity, uniqueness and intergenerational impact of historical events. May we, as a global community, work tirelessly to ensure that the words "Never again" become a reality.

As we go into Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully enjoying some time with our friends and families enjoying a burger or hot dog. Just make sure remember the reason for the freedoms that we have. Here's some ground rules for this coming weekend: 1. Don't wish a Veteran a Happy Memorial day. There is nothing happy about brave men and women dying. Be happy to enjoy the freedoms they provided you. 2. It's not a holiday. It's a remembrance of those who died in combat 3. If you want to BBQ, grill or cookout do so.. but make sure you remember why we have this long weekend. Tell your kids why it's important. 4. Remember its not just about the "hero's" of movie and book fame, it's also about that Private who landed at Normandy, Baghdad, Vietnam, Korea or countless other battlefields large and small and died 2 minutes into his first combat action. 5. If you want to know the true meaning, visit Arlington or your local VA cemetery. Learn the story of why there are coins on the graves. 6. Patriotism is a great thing, show a flag in remembrance, but make sure its a flag of the US not some political movement (BLM, Blue stripe, Rebel flag etc). 7. Don't tell me how you almost joined, this is not about you (or me). Talk about Chesty Puller, George Patton, John Basilone, Dakota Meyer, Kyle Carpenter, Mitchell Paige, Ira Hayes, Chris Kyle and any other heroes too numerous to name. 8. Don't tell me I don't know what I am talking about. I have remembrances, and the burden, all too many times for warriors who now stand their post in front of God and history. 9. Say a prayer... and then another. 10. Remember the Fallen for all the Good they did while they were here. 11. Reach out and let a Vet know you're there, we're losing too many in "peace time".

Very good, sharp and clear statement by the Military History Society of NSW on attacks on war memorials. Extract below. It is interesting that a historical society can articulate why such attacks are wrong, a great deal more clearly than leaders or relevant organisations have been able to this year. I think sadly perhaps people in “official” positions are struggling to show moral leadership. I wrote in the Daily Telegraph on this in April as part of an Anzac Day piece - but have seen no opinion pieces or even useful statements since then. “As a body dedicated to preserving and honouring our state’s military heritage, the Military History of New South Wales is disturbed by continuing instances of defacement, vandalism and misuse of historical public monuments, including war and veterans memorials. Acts of physical destruction as a means of political expression should be condemned unreservedly. These attacks represent an infringement of community rights. They are an illegitimate substitute for the democratic processes by which these monuments are properly managed with broad popular consent. This is true even if controversy surrounds the monument in question. In the case of war memorials, the attacks dishonour the sacrifice, and insult the relatives, of those who gave their lives for the precious freedoms that protestors exploit. Civil authorities at all levels of government should repudiate such attacks in explicit terms. Public monuments and war memorials must not become props in the theatre of violent protest. Our leaders must apply all necessary measures, including criminal sanctions, to ensure that vandalism is not legitimised or mainstreamed as an acceptable form of political activism.”

6 000 0000 people… behind those numbers 2 of my uncles were murdered in early childhood and buried in mass grave in their village in Poland. Many other relatives were murdered in Ukraine, Khmelnitska oblast. This is a part of the family that is forever lost… those people didn’t have children and grandchildren . Behind those numbers millions of great people that could contribute to humanity in so many ways: science, art, literature and just being good people , our friends, colleagues, relatives and neighbors. Pogrom attacks on Jewish villagers and communities predated the Holocaust . They started with rising antisemitism in the 1930th . To educate myself about Jewish History years ago I read about those acts of barbarism and terror when Jews were butchered, raped, tortured, their houses and businesses vandalized or burned , but I naively believed that this is history , the past. I thought that in modern times it will not happen anymore. I also tried to understand how all this was possible in 20th century and believed that the truth was hidden from people and without internet, whatsApp and free press they were mislead by propaganda or just did not knew what was happening. Seeing genocidal act of Pogrom terror attack in 21-st century and then millions of people denying , justifying or even celebrating this act or terror is terrifying. The demonization of Jews and raising antisemitism is shocking. Stand with Israel, stand with Jews, do not let mutated form of Nazi Fascism antisemitism now called antizionism to cloud your vision and lead to death of millions of Jews again. #NeverAgainIsNow #jews #standeithisrael #antisemitism #antizionism #jews #minorities #ethnicminorities #religiousminorities
“Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” - Winston Churchill Today, on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, we honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Our pledge of “Never again” has new meaning now. #HolocaustRemembranceDay

Peace Please! Although it is maybe too late and surely should have been done much earlier, if Hamas would just unilaterally release all remaining 100 Israeli hostages as the ICJ and the UN requested, it would gain more credibility as a party who wants peace. This would force Israel in the position of a need to reassess its strategy because most of its arguments against Hamas would no longer be valid. This could be a starting point for a permanent truce. There is absolutely no future for any party based on the narrative of its radicals..... everyone who wants to claim territory exclusively for themselves will only find eternal war, violence and destruction, whereas the moderates hold the key to peace by non-violent interaction and dialog as equals. This is the only path to replace fear and hatred by trust and solidarity and to solve the conflict forever. Since Gaza has been carpet bombed, it is and will stay uninhabitable for at least a decade. Chances on a two-state solution have therefore become minimal. The only way out of the conflict is thus to learn to live together as equals and to share the country as one union. Practically, it means in my opinion to go back to the times of Canaan and establish (democratic) autonomous local communities and flexibly spread them over the entire territory of Canaan. These autonomous communities can coexist and come together in two confederations of communities (nations), an Israeli and a Palestinian one, both sharing the country as a union, this is a hybrid outcome with elements of both a two- and a one-state solution. There is space for all cultural identities this way without any minority versus majority issues. Currently, such scenario seems very far fetched, but, the Israelis and Palestinians belong to Canaan and nobody outside is waiting for an(other) exodus of any of the two. www.canaan.community & www.pax.ngo & www.convergence.ngo

6:29 ?? Today marks one year since the October 7 massacre, a day that changed Israel forever. The pain of that day is etched in our memories, but so is our resilience. We stand united, determined to defend ourselves, our people, and our way of life. We will overcome, and we will prevail. We must bring home the 101 hostages. Their time is running out. #NeverForget #IsraelStrong #BringThemHomeNow
