Here, a sneak peak at our upcoming documentary about one of our Unite Scholar medical students Zainabu Seiph. Our Unite Scholars Program is designed to find and identify highly talented youth who would have no means to continue their education post lower-secondary and support them with all the tools (scholarship, mentorship, trainings, international networks, professional internships, business grants and loans, health care, love, and more) they need to thrive and succeed in life both in and beyond the classroom. TICZA recently held a reimagining workshop to assess the divergent and convergent expectations of the collaborative initiative. On 3 April 2024, partners concluded that the purpose of TICZA should be to advance the institutionalisation of extended student-teacher internships in South Africa. Furthermore, the focus of TICZA should be on these extended student-teacher internships managed through NGO-HEI partnerships that exceed the average work-integrated learning required by MRTEQ. The priority areas outlined during the workshop were: > Revised research agenda > Strengthening governance and relationships > Contribute to strengthened advocacy > Contribute to understanding and development of funding models for teacher internships, and > Contribute to impacting national teacher education policies

Wow, South Africa never ceases to amaze me with its stories of resilience and opportunity! I recently heard about Phathutshedzo Ngwana's incredible journey and just had to share it. Growing up in the small village of Madombidzha in Limpopo, Phathu faced immense challenges, like many young South Africans. Despite earning a degree in Life Sciences, she struggled to find employment and even took a bold step to move to Johannesburg in search of better opportunities. When online job applications and internships didn't pan out, Phathu did something truly inspiring. She stood at a busy intersection in Johannesburg with a sign listing her qualifications, showcasing her determination and willingness to work hard. And it worked! Mduduzi Mthanti, an IT operations manager at Investec, saw her potential and invited her to apply for the Investec End User Services IT Learnership. This was the break Phathu needed. The learnership provided her with practical training and internships to bridge the gap for women in technology. With her determination and the support of the program, she not only secured a full-time position at Investec but also became an inspiring figure in her community and family. Phathu's story is a testament to the power of resilience and the opportunities that can arise when we least expect them. Her words, "We are creators of our futures... Grit and determination could change your life, just like it did mine," resonate deeply with me. This journey reminds me of corporate involvement's profound impact in addressing youth unemployment. It's a powerful example of how investing in young talent through training and mentorship can nurture the leaders of tomorrow. What inspiring stories have you come across recently? Let's amplify these amazing people's successes!

What advice does SAIS Europe student Ronnie Alinda Kyamureku have for students in the process of choosing graduate schools? Think about the alumni network! "Schools with a strong attachment to alumni are usually very in-touch with the skills required in the field," said Ronnie. "SAIS maintains a strong alumni network which is very involved in career advice, internship placements and job recruitment. This I believe keeps SAIS up-to-date on the changing trends in the job market and this is translated into the way courses are offered." I was taking a retrospect on how the last 6 months went few minutes ago. Well, I didn't absolutely achieve all my plans but I did quite a bit. Last year, I began my internship at Interspatial Technologies, Lagos. It wasn't quite a palatable adventure but the whole learning process taught me quite a lot of lessons. I resumed this year, had my internship defense, bagged a 5.0/5.0 GPA. Along the line, I #volunteered for several events ranging from: ONDEA (Ondo State Entrepreneurship Agency) conference to Weinspire conference, Six ships among several others. Being the YALI Network Ondo financial secretary, I also took leadership course sometime this year as well as participated in community clean up. I had the time to do a big thing "LinkedIn Optimization" with Elizabeth Boluwatife Rotimi which has sparked a lot of positive reactions. More to it, on social impact, the few months ahead will be rigorous as I'll be combining project work with community service and stuffs but I'm sure I'll scale through. This month, I'll be hosting two major virtual events on #volunteering and #Academics respectively. In the coming months, I'll be taking the gospel of sound education #SDG4 to neighbouring schools. Finally, I'll be rounding off my Undergraduate program this year too. The future looks propitious, let's make impact. I didn't share all those to oppress you but if I perhaps did, it means I did a great job. It's a new month, do something meaningful with your life; NO TIME! #Day7 #10daysofconsistencywithDaniel #Volunteering #QualityEducation #SDG4

A key focus of our work has been enhancing the advocacy capacities of African individuals and organisations to co-create solutions tailored to African challenges, using an Africentric approach. In 2023, we achieved this by providing training, mentorship, fellowships, internships, public lectures, and seminars to institutions, CSOs, and individuals.
