Finishing up our series on the wellbeing benefits of positive relationships, Dr Mahrukh Khwaja (MAPP) shines a light on the positive impact of kindness at work. “Continuing with our theme of positive relationships, another way we can do this in a dental context is to intentionally create kinder work environments through acts of kindness. Positive psychology research shows that doing small acts of kindness from paying someone a compliment at work, to allowing someone to go ahead of you in a queue outside of work, is good for us as well as for the recipients (Hui et al, 2020; Kotter 2008). Random acts of kindness can also promote a phenomenon known as the ‘happiness contagion’, where one good deed causes others to continue the chain of good deeds! It doesn’t take much, but it does make a difference.” Swipe or download to learn more about the benefits of acts of kindness, and ways you can infuse these activities more in the workplace. #actsofkindness #wellbeingindentistry #wellbeingatwork #culture #permah #teamwellbeing
