PRESS RELEASE:??? On #WorldChildrenSDay, UNICEF South Africa released its Situation Analysis (SitAn) report on the state of children's wellbeing in the country. Key data from the SitAn offers sobering insights into the daily lived experiences of many children in the country, especially the most vulnerable: - 62% of children are experiencing multidimensional poverty - Only 21% of children under five receive a minimum acceptable diet - 25% of children aged 5-16 experience family violence UNICEF South Africa’s Representative Christine Muhigana emphasized the importance of these findings: "This report is an urgent call to action for all sectors to promote and protect the rights of every child and young person across the country. It is a roadmap for policymakers, the private sector, communities, and related stakeholders to create sustainable improvements in the lives of children and young people." Save children in Sudan

Invited at PTV World to talk on the Topic “ 2024 The Worst year for children in War Conflct”Today at PTV World on the Topic : 2024 worst year for children in conflict. In 2024, children faced unprecedented challenges due to conflict, with over 47 million displaced and more than 52 million out of school. Children, who make up 30% of the global population, disproportionately represent 40% of refugees and nearly half of internally displaced persons. Grave violations, including killings, maimings, and sexual violence, reached record levels, with Haiti reporting a 1,000% surge in sexual violence cases against children. Conflicts disrupted education, healthcare, and food systems, leading to famine in North Darfur and severe malnutrition in other hotspots. Mental health impacts, such as anxiety and depression, are widespread. UNICEF calls for urgent global action to protect these children and ensure access to basic rights, emphasizing that inaction risks creating a lost generation .

Adolescent girls are acutely affected by conflict and crises around the world, yet the unique challenges they face are often overlooked.
