In my view, asking a GP for a #mentalcapacity assessment has always been a bit of a false economy. The time wasted on delays to get a poorly written assessment outweighs the cost of a professional, comprehensive mental capacity assessment. With GPs (rightly) voting to work to rule, requesting a mental capacity assessment from a GP will be pointless moving forward; depending on how long this action lasts, we will see further backlogs in the future. Nellie Supports offers fast, efficient and affordable capacity assessments throughout England and Wales.

Read about the project: https://loom.ly/6mMam3k Waco Family Medicine is a Federally Qualified Health Center offering comprehensive health care services. It has more than a dozen locations that served 60,000 patients last year, primarily uninsured or underinsured patients, offering an income-based sliding fee scale. Submitted by HKS, Inc., Waco Family Medicine's new 143,000-square-foot facility, which doubles the clinical space at its Providence Drive campus is evidence-based design at its best. The campus creates a clinical home that warmly welcomes vulnerable people in the heart of Texas, to support patient-centered, affordable community health, foster staff joy, and advance education and research across the clinical spectrum. Jurors stated that the research team conducted a thorough review of the literature and demonstrated how the literature informed decision making. The evidence matrix they developed clearly shows the train of thought from the existing conditions through the design and final outcomes. "This collection highlights cases from around the world and discusses unique cultural, emotional, and medical needs and how child life collaborated with families to provide a needs assessment and interventions to meet each child’s developmental level. (It) serves as an opportunity for current child life specialists to reflect on... skills and provides insight to those outside the field on the job of a certified child life specialist in various settings." -Laura Gould, CCLS, MS Book Review: The Child Life Chronicles: Stories from the Field ACLP BULLETIN FALL 2024 VOL. 42 NO. 4 Read more about this collection, edited by Christen Bradbury, CTRS, CCLS, in our latest issue of Bulletin: https://ow.ly/Bf7K50UIJ4q

Bugs Sites are the worker ants of #clinicaltrials. Everything is done to support the queen, aka sponsor. We show deference to the mighty soldiers, aka CROs. Company R’s revenue in 2023 was 13.12 billion US dollars ($ 13,000,000,000) while company I’s revenue in the same year was a paltry 8.12 billion ($8,120,000,000). Two years ago (63,072,000 seconds) invoices and supporting receipts for pass through costs were submitted, on time and as instructed to the #CRO following study closure. The amount outstanding, about $25,000. Two years on, 30+ person hours, dozens of e-mail queries, phone calls, and resubmissions of the original invoices – they lost or misplaced the originals, I think they have 14c. accounting system, resulted in “per ‘company I’, they do not have any funds for these studies and want us to reach directly to ‘company R’.” We did. Silence. #drugdevelopment #clinicalresearch #researchcompensation

Check out this training by Dr. Pamela Parkinson on Strength Based Diagnosis. This training is about how we can remain strength-based when we have to use pathologizing and stigmatizing labels in order to get paid. While I hope that we are all advocating (in our own ways) for important changes in our field that will allow us to be more strength-based and client-directed (as SAMHSA has requested we do), what do we do NOW? This training is meant to help us see the difference between disorders and actual diagnosis and how they go together; the significant importance of diagnosis and how we can do it; and, ways that we can decrease the negativity of labels on our youth and still get paid! If we can get better at this, it will be a win-win for our youth and our organizations with better outcomes that can come through allowing our diagnoses to guide our support to our youth in our continuum of care! https://lnkd.in/gShXNZjA

We are getting excited for the 4th Annual ODA Summit next week! Looking forward to presenting alongside my partners Sophie Melaku & Erica Parks. In 2020, the Hamilton County Quick Response Team (QRT) expanded its outreach by embedding peer supporters within Drug Court Treatment and Recovery Court. These peer supporters provide essential wraparound support beyond court-mandated treatment, offering a reassuring presence and guidance to ease participants’ nerves and set clear expectations. Launched in July 2021, this model proved so successful that it expanded to include two navigators by 2023, now supporting Veterans Court and both municipal and felony Mental Health Courts, each tailored to meet specific needs. Join us to learn from our experienced panel about effective strategies, successes, challenges, and best practices in deploying peer navigation to enhance the treatment court experience and support long-term recovery. Learning Objectives: 1. Understand the fundamental role and benefits of embedding peer supporters in treatment courts. 2. Identify effective strategies for implementing and expanding peer navigation programs within different court settings. 3. Analyze the unique integration methods of peer supporters in Drug Treatment and Recovery Court, Veterans Court, and Mental Health Courts

According to the Association of Child Life Professionals, “Emotional safety encompasses specialized strategies including atraumatic, patient- and family-centered, trauma-informed, culture-centered, and developmentally appropriate care. These clinical components are woven throughout the four pillars of emotional safety: (a) screening and assessment; (b) intervention; (c) environment; and (d) education, training, and communication.” Presentation will define emotional safety, explore common reactions of children and teens to trauma, and present trauma-informed, emotionally safe tactics for working with injured patients. Online Educational Opportunities are a member-only benefit. For more information and registration: https://lnkd.in/em44mwe

Really illustrates the value of robust systematic reviews
Really pleased to hear that our paper, 'A Systematic Review of Violence Risk Assessment Tools Currently Used in Emergency Care Settings' was the most downloaded article in the Journal of Emergency Nursing in 2023.
