The uncertainty deepens for over 400,000 undocumented students, including DACA-eligible individuals, as legal battles threaten the protection granted under DACA. Despite some indications from Trump about supporting Dreamers, opposition persists, with advocates like Texas state Rep. Terri Leo Wilson proposing bills to curtail benefits for undocumented students, such as in-state tuition. Amid fears of deportation, affected students are taking proactive measures, seeking legal counsel and reconnecting with relatives in their home countries. Certain states, like California, are enacting measures to shield these students by limiting collaboration with federal immigration authorities. Universities are also rallying support, offering legal guidance and assistance programs to help Dreamers navigate the uncertain road ahead.

I am excited to share my latest publication in the American Behavioral Scientist, which delves into the factors shaping public opinion on immigration enforcement during the Trump presidency. By analyzing data from all 50 states, the study reveals that political ideology, party affiliation, region, and education levels significantly decreased support for police stops targeting undocumented immigrants, while age increased support. These findings offer valuable insights into the complex dynamics of public sentiment on immigration enforcement, with important implications for both theory and policy. What a great session with several members of the College IC – Collège IC. De-Escalation Strategies are essential to employees who interact with members of the public while engaged in their duties. From investigators, complaint intake coordinators, mediators, prosecutors and more, all were extremely engaged in our full-day program. We covered topics from conflict management, perception, communication theory to active listening skills and de-escalation. The College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants licenses and regulates the practice of Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) and Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIAs) in the public interest.
