Yesterday our historic Nation Lands Conference , came to an end in Livingstone, organized by ZIEA – the first of its kind. What an incredible journey it has been over the past 4 days, filled with learnings and experiences that will stay with me forever. Being part of the organizing committee, I had the privilege to absorb five valuable lessons that have truly shaped my perspective: 1. **Start from where you are**: You may not have everything you need, but taking that first step is crucial. Progress comes from action, no matter how small. 2. **Belief fuels success**: If you don't believe in your vision, why should anyone else? Confidence in your ideals is the foundation for building something great. 3. **Persistence pays off**: Success doesn't happen overnight. Keep refining your strategies, learn from setbacks, and continue moving forward. The path to success is paved with determination. 4. **It doesn't need to be perfect**: Striving for perfection can hinder progress. Focus on making things workable and functional, and improvements can always come later. 5. **Hope and faith are essential**: In the face of challenges, a little hope and faith can go a long way. Keeping a positive outlook can help you navigate even the toughest of situations. Reflecting on these key takeaways from my experience as part of the organizing committee, I am inspired to continue pushing boundaries, embracing challenges, and striving for growth. Here's to leveraging these lessons towards a future filled with achievement and impact! #NationLandsConference #ZIEA #LearningsFromLivingstone

These are my top five books on world history, each offering unique perspectives on our journey from simple hunter-gatherers to skillful architects of reality. Though they share similarities, I found immense value in exploring each one for a balanced, unbiased record of our past. In understanding our successes and failures as a civilization, we deepen our knowledge of the human condition, empowering us to make informed predictions and decisions concerning the future of humanity.

Think #50yearsahead | Preservation, particularly in the US context, serves as a mechanism through which the nation enhances its ability to confront and engage with its history. Through preserving historic places and embracing complex narratives embodied within these spaces, the nation is better equipped to understand, actively challenge, learn from and grapple with its past. Preservation is a conversation with the future and the lessons we learn - or choose NOT to learn - will be ever present 50 years from now.

There are many reasons why we save #historic places. For some the beauty of a structure remains paramount, for others it is because of a personal #connection to a landscape. https://bit.ly/3XPuI32
