?? Designing a Season of Gratitude this Thanksgiving ??? Thanksgiving is a celebration of connection—a time to pause, reflect, and express gratitude. As we gather around the table today, I’m reminded how this holiday parallels the work we do in creating meaningful customer and user experiences. Whether it’s a family dinner or a digital interaction, the most memorable experiences are built on thoughtfulness, empathy, and attention to detail. It’s about understanding needs—big and small—and finding ways to deliver value that resonates. This year, I’m especially grateful for the lessons learned through collaboration and the shared mission of improving lives through better design, service, and innovation. Just like Thanksgiving traditions evolve while staying rooted in what matters most, our work continuously adapts to meet ever-changing expectations, without losing sight of what connects us all. ?? If anyone has ever met me, they know I’m a total Christmas nut! ?? My wife and I go all out with 25 days of Christmas—I’d say it’s for the kids, but honestly, it feels like it’s more for us sometimes. ?? When it’s time to wrap the presents, it’s always a “fun” event, lol. ?? My wife—the research professor—handles all the gift wrapping like a pro, while I, the UX researcher, take on the role of moderator (She absolutely loves it when I hover over her and start questioning her methods—said no one ever!). The kids? They’re just trying to skip the whole process and dive straight into tearing everything open. ???? Meanwhile, I’m over here asking, “How might we improve the gift-opening experience?” ?? and secretly running an A/B test: her beautifully wrapped presents vs. my “gift bag for speed” approach. Every so often, I revisit Daily UI to try and get the juices flowing with product design. The tasks are always fairly simple, so I take purposely try to make them more about UX, whilst simultaneously throwing some nice UI in there too. This challenge was to design a countdown timer - but everyone's seen that before. This one's designed for people with absolutely zero time management when it comes to cooking, like me. The app takes all the required timings for cooking, and creates an alert for when to put the right thing in the oven, so it's ready all at once.
