The last thing it will do is give up the bargaining power it has. F-15Es to Receive Advanced Electronic-Warfare Systems | The U.S. Air Force has approved full-rate production of the Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS) for F-15 fighter jets, enhancing their electronic warfare capabilities. A $616 million contract awarded to Boeing will facilitate the installation of EPAWSS on both new F-15EX models and 99 existing F-15E aircraft. This advanced system enables monitoring, jamming, and deception of threats in contested environments, significantly improving survivability against modern air defenses. Production is expected to be completed by the end of 2030.

? The Air Force has changed in terms of aircraft and their capabilities. It is increasingly working towards the role of a multi-role aircraft. But is this concept still up to date? ? The avionics of an aircraft have different capabilities/possibilities in their design. If I have a larger surface area to generate more lift, the maximum speed suffers as a result. Conversely, a more compact avionics layout makes it possible to generate higher speeds. In my opinion, capabilities should not be dependent on the maximum performance of the carrier system, nor should this set the limits. The reverse should be the case. A capability that is to be used comes first, and the carrier platform should be designed accordingly. ?? The financial aspect is clearly evident in the multi-role concept, but nowadays we see that the focus should be on a high-performance solution as opposed to a more cost-efficient one. In the area of the F35, the Bundeswehr has again focused on a multi-role variant. In the Chinese armed forces, the J-20 Shengdu has been designed as a bomber/director for its exact purpose. ?
