Important note from Judge Korbin-Steiner re: all civil divisions consolidating to the downtown complex. That consolidation also means that some family divisions are leaving downtown. Check your dockets!
All. The following is an announcement from the family department presiding judge. Effective October 14, 2024, the Superior Court in Maricopa County will be consolidating all Civil divisions to the Downtown region. As a result, a total of seven Downtown Family judicial officers (5 Judges and 2 Commissioners) will be relocated to the Southeast and Northeast regions. In addition, all Downtown Family divisions currently located in the Old Courthouse will be relocated to the Central Court Building. The chart below lists the affected judicial officers / divisions; their current locations; and their newly assigned courtrooms / regions as of 10/14/2024. The relocated judges—including those changing regions—will keep their current calendars, though some pre-decree and post-decree matters may be reassigned to evenly balance the judges’ caseloads. In addition, a forthcoming administrative order will adjust the administrative boundaries and ZIP codes assigned to the four regional judicial districts. Please be sure to review all minute entries for the most up-to-date information as to the assigned judge, region, and courtroom as of 10/14/2024. Please also inform your clients of any changes to location for in-person hearings set on or after 10/14/2024. I will put the judge locations in the comments.

The value of damage can determine the classification of the offence and therefore where it can be dealt with. In cases where the value of damage is £5,000 or below, the offence is summary only and is dealt with by the Magistrates Court. Offences with damage in value exceeding £5,000 are 'either way' offences, and therefore can be heard in either the Magistrates Court or the Crown Court. We have great news!!! U.S. Sentencing Commission voted to ban the use of acquitted conduct to calculate a guideline sentence! Judge Carlton Reeves, the Chair of the Commission, explained, “Not guilty means not guilty. By enshrining this basic fact within the federal sentencing guidelines, the Commission is taking an important step to protect the credibility of our courts and criminal justice system." You can read more from Mary Price, General Counsel, FAMM on their website. P.S. The proposed amendments were submitted to Congress on April 30, 2024, and will be added to the federal sentencing guidelines on November 1 unless Congress successfully modifies or rejects any of them. You can see all the amendments here: https://lnkd.in/e59dhbbP

How do I transfer my County Court Judgment over £600 to the High Court for enforcement? This is an easy process and all High Court Enforcement Officers provide the service of transferring County Court Judgments to the High Court for enforcement. You can discuss your options and any associated charges for this service with your appointed High Court Enforcement Officer, or browse our member’s list to find a High Court Enforcement Officer. You can also transfer the case yourself by filling in the relevant forms and submitting them to the court. However, we would recommend speaking to your High Court Enforcement Officer before choosing this option as the court will return any incorrect forms which could delay the recovery process. You will need to pay a court fee of £78.00 whether you transfer up yourself or the High Court Enforcement Officer does this for you, which is not related to the High Court Enforcement Officer’s fees. #Enforcement #Collections #CourtService
