Memorial Day is one of the most important days we recognize as citizens of the United States of America. This quote by Harry S. Truman helps us understand that it is our duty to reflect on and express our gratitude for the service of those who have fought to protect our rights and freedoms. Many individuals have given their lives to enshrine the daily comforts and feelings of happiness we are able to enjoy, and we should never take this for granted. Originally, this day celebrated the end of the Civil War, but it now acts as a solemn reminder of all that we have fought for as a nation throughout our proud history: freedom, liberty, democracy, and fairness. Pausing regular life to remember the sacrifices of those who came before and celebrating all that we have yet to do as a great nation is one small way to show our understanding of the complex and painful histories we represent as a nation. When so much of the world is experiencing so much grief, we owe it to ourselves to reflect on our own past and all that we have worked together to protect and provide for the citizens of the United States. This Memorial Day, as we enjoy the beginning of summer, let us also solemnly consider our ongoing responsibility to uphold and fight for those values that comprise this beautiful country: freedom, fairness, and equality for all. #memorialday #freedom #equalityforall

Yesterday was Memorial Day, a time to honor and remember those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. This day always makes me pause and think about the values of dedication, commitment, and integrity that these heroes embodied. As a professional, I find myself deeply inspired by these values. How can we incorporate such unwavering dedication into our daily work? How can we ensure that we are committed to justice and integrity in every case we handle? For me, Memorial Day is not just a day of remembrance, but also a reminder to strive for excellence in all we do. It’s a call to honor those values in our own lives and professions. I’d love to hear your thoughts. How does Memorial Day inspire you in your professional journey? #MemorialDay #Reflection #Values #Dedication #Integrity

Honoring Courage and Self-Belief on Memorial Day. Today, we honor the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. Memorial Day is a reminder of the courage and selflessness that defines our nation's heroes. But it's also a reminder of the power of self-belief. Our fallen heroes believed in something greater than themselves, and they had the courage to act on it. They showed us that with unwavering self-belief, we can overcome even the most daunting challenges. As you reflect on their legacy, ask yourself: - What do I believe in? - What am I willing to stand up for? - What challenges can I overcome with unwavering self-belief? Remember, self-belief is the spark that ignites your potential. It's the fuel that drives you to achieve your goals and make a difference in the world. Embrace your own self-belief, dare to dream big, take risks, and push beyond your limits. NurseKhaphie ?? #MemorialDay #SelfBelief #Courage #Heroes #Inspiration #Motivation

Though Juneteenth celebrates Black liberation in America, whatever freedoms we enjoy are never absolute and can cherry picked to be almost arbitrary. Remember the names of White violence that never cease to target Black folk in America. A SIDE NOTE: When I just typed/Swyped the word, "JUNETEENTH," on my phone, my Samsung/Android phone did not see it as a valid word. After nearly 200 years of Juneteenth being celebrated by Black folk, my Samsung Galaxy 22 phone -- a phone made by a South Korean company in a land of predominantly non-Black people of color and a phone bpowered by a U.S. based operating system created by Google, a White dominated corporation -- did not think to include the word "Juneteenth" (now a major federal holiday in its phone. That kind of disappearance from history is why Black folk created touchstones like Black History Month and holidays long ignored by whites like Juneteenth. Our freedoms are relative to ones White Christians enjoy in America that we don't. Like the expectation one might hold to not be slaughtered in a Black Church in a nation whose Supreme Court just gave the right to all people -- but mostly Whites in practical terms -- to by a bump stock that can turn their single trigger rifles into a massacre machine and efficiently murder Church going Black folk with cruel, inhumane, race-based hatred. Welcome to the reality that is White vs. Black America. Rest in peace to these seven souls. Know their names. Never disappear them from history.
A white man opened fire in a historic black church, in Charleston, South Carolina the night of June 17, 2015, killing nine people, during a prayer meeting. The living embodiment of white supremacy walked into a black church Nine years ago today black people welcomed him into their sanctuary. They prayed with him and over him. I am gonna spend today praying for their lives and praying for their families. Love and terror all in the same space

The "Rankins" have had a varied service history, originating in Europe and then migrating with a somewhat controversial narrative of its day. It transcended dissent of the age, from Ohio through PA, WV, and KY, and converted viewpoints until the unpopular narratives became acceptable, to the degree that liberty and equality became adoptable perspectives. Because of them, and our ancestor's dedication, we do not suffer as much for expressed truths. Remember that abiding by a truth in which YOU believe may not make you accepted by many, but it can plant the seeds that empower an enduring needed precept that goes far beyond the populism of the time. It is not for us to empower our standing with the acceptance of power-wielding idealogues but to enrich the world with an embraced truth that, when freed, will empower others. Identify the truths in which you stand, invest in them, and dedicate your mind, body, and spirit to them. If one person or a nation needs to hear it, preach, practice, and spread the truth through whatever occupation you pursue. It may be that self-actualization results, but the truth that touches others will outlive us and our comprehension of its historical progeny. Remember those who struggled for liberty, for US all, and revealed the injustices we must vigilantly defend against. From that, we should NOT divide ourselves, but unite. Find that truth, study it and invest faith and effort... then unleash it, and all its good upon the world. Just a truth https://lnkd.in/gYhXAH6b

???? Happy Flag Day! ???? Today, we celebrate Flag Day, a special day to honor the symbol of our nation's unity and freedom—the American flag. ?? Civics Lesson of the Day: Flag Etiquette and Lesser-Known Facts The American flag, also known as "Old Glory," represents the values and history of our country. Here are some lesser-known facts and important etiquette about our flag: Lesser-Known Facts: 1. Flag Code: The United States Flag Code, established in 1923, provides guidelines on how to display and handle the flag. It’s a set of rules to ensure the flag is treated with the respect it deserves. 2. Never at Half-Mast by Mistake: The flag is only flown at half-mast by specific orders, usually by the President or a state governor, to honor and remember the sacrifices of our nation's heroes. 3. No Flag Higher: When displayed with other flags, the American flag should always be at the highest point or to the flag's own right (the observer’s left). 4. Proper Disposal: When a flag is worn and no longer fit for display, it should be retired in a respectful manner, typically by burning in a dignified ceremony. Did You Know? 1. Folding the Flag: There is a specific way to fold the American flag into a triangular shape, which symbolizes the hats worn by colonial soldiers during the American Revolution. 2. The Flag’s Birthplace: The first American flag was commissioned by the Continental Congress and crafted by Betsy Ross, a seamstress in Philadelphia. 3. National Anthem Connection: The Star-Spangled Banner, written by Francis Scott Key, was inspired by the sight of the American flag flying over Fort McHenry after a battle during the War of 1812. Let's come together to honor our flag and reflect on the principles it stands for. Share your pictures and stories with #FlagDay and #OldGlory to spread the patriotic spirit! ?????
