Excellent points, Val. We who saw 9/11 terrorist acts will never forget the loss to so many families. It seems today, the principle of “see something, say something” lost its impact. When Ivy League and other students, potentially funded by foreign terrorists and career protesters, waved Hamas and ISIS flags, vandalized monuments, and intimidated Jewish and other students, it appears that speaking up no longer makes a difference. Many colleges fail to address severe antisemitic actions, while minor infractions against other groups often result in expulsion. Is it 1939 Germany or 2024 America? I have to ask myself seeing so many posts rightfully, honestly recognize our terrible losses on 9/11... but I haven't seen mention here or on the news of who did it and why. And now similar terror groups are here, loud, proud, and popularly accepted by faculty and students more than ever before. Let's not forget 9/11--and who and why they slaughtered innocents. And we can't afford to forget that terroristic goal hasn't diminished, as daily evidence indicates.

US Invisible War Americans vs Americans Not too different from Israel vs Palestinians As the culture of impunity proliferate. Everyone pushes the boundaries of what they can get away with. I have a long list of police misconducts around me. Along with a long list of crimes against me by the US military. White supremacy is alive and acting up. And it is like a dead big thrashing. Israel genocide is really rooted in white supremacy. That ideology inside the US is creating another situation where everyone will declare the right to defend themselves. Just like Netanyahu. How will the US pivot internally? Continue to support white supremacy? Make a uturn?

I, like so many others, reflect each year on where we were and how we felt on September 11th, 2001. As we think about the current state of our political season and rhetoric, I challenge us to remember how we felt 23 years ago on September 12th. In the wake of the devastating 9/11 attacks, September 12, 2001, witnessed an unprecedented wave of unity across the United States. As the nation grappled with shock and grief, a powerful spirit of resilience emerged. Americans from all walks of life joined in collective mourning, offering support to those affected. The American flag became a ubiquitous symbol of solidarity, adorning homes, vehicles, and buildings nationwide. Political divisions dissolved as leaders stood united against terrorism. Volunteerism surged, with thousands rushing to donate blood and assist in rescue efforts. Interfaith cooperation flourished, promoting understanding and rejecting collective blame. Communities held candlelight vigils, providing spaces for collective reflection. A renewed sense of patriotism swept the nation, rooted in shared values of freedom and democracy. Countless acts of kindness between strangers highlighted the best of human nature. This unity, born from shared grief and resolve, demonstrated the resilience of the American spirit and the strength found in coming together during times of crisis. Out of tragedy, if only for a while, we became stronger than ever. I am optimistic we can achieve that again, without the tragic motivation. Thoughts?
