This allows individuals to choose what they create and gradually release aspects of the trauma at their own pace, preventing overwhelm. "I am making a wish. My wish is to make my JIA go away because I need a cannula in my hand every two weeks." This is 9 year old Ellie's Christmas wish. This is an extract from her letter to Santa. We know Santa may not be able to make her wish come true but we believe that a cure for JIA is possible - by focusing research on finding answers to the priorities that children and parents have told us matters most to them. Not just better treatments, not just a better understanding of pain, but long-term unmedicated remission. That is the aim. That is what parents of children with JIA, and children and young people with JIA tell us they want. This is what we are pushing forwards towards with our own research and in the research partnerships that we support. So these Christmas wishes that we have been sharing are not just 'pie in the sky' wishes but part of a bigger picture of making sure that research priorities are focussed on the right things that matter most. Thank you to everyone who has shared a Christmas wish with us. That alone helps to raise awareness of JIA which is so important for earlier diagnosis.
