A note from TURNER’s Founder + President, Christine Turner: I’m beyond proud to share that TURNER has been named one of Outside Magazine’s Best Places to Work in 2024. This honor — the eighth year in a row — isn’t just a testament to our work, it’s a celebration of the people who make TURNER what it is — the creative, diverse and passionate individuals who bring their best selves to work each day. At TURNER, we’ve always been more than just a PR agency. We’re human, in the best sense of the word. We’ve built a culture that is rooted in our values of inclusion, respect and a deep affection for the people who make us who we are. Whether we’re in New York City, Denver, LA, Miami or Chicago, our team embraces the same principles and passions that fuel the brands and organizations we represent. From fashion weeks to cycle and ski trips with clients, we’ve created an environment that reflects the adventurous and collaborative spirit we champion. Our culture is about balance — a work hard, play hard mentality that ensures our team thrives personally and professionally. Our hybrid work schedule gives everyone the flexibility to enjoy their outdoor adventures, and we take the time to step away from our desks with activities like trivia contests and happy hours organized by our Recess committee. One of the reasons I believe TURNER has stood out year after year is our dedication to our team’s personal and professional development. Our TURNER U program ensures that our team stays ahead of industry shifts, the latest trends and cutting-edge tools. And through our TURNER Ignite initiative, each team member receives a stipend for personal and professional growth experiences. Whether it’s attending classes or pursuing passion projects, we believe in empowering our people to grow—not just as employees, but as individuals. This recognition from OUTSIDE is a reflection of our philosophy that caring deeply—about our team, our clients and our work—is not just a nice-to-have but a must-have. It’s in our DNA, and it’s part of what makes TURNER so special. There are a lot of good reasons that TURNER has been included year after year in OUTSIDE's rankings. The 7 Deadly Sins of Corporate Offsites! ?? Corporate offsites are back on top of the podium! According to a recent study, "The State of Corporate Travel," team offsites have once again become the #1 reason for business travel. ????♀? But the reports also points out a teensy problem: “some executives have a negative perception of traditional corporate offsites.” So, we've dug into corporate offsites and have discovered: The 7 Deadly Sins of Corporate Offsites (and what you can do to avoid them). Here's the 1st Sin of Corporate Offsites... ?? #1: “Offsites that Bore People into Submission” ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1?? Imbalance of Presentations vs Interactive Exercises: Researchers found that for every 30 minutes of instruction and theory, you need to balance it with 30 minutes of interactive exercises. ?When that ratio is out of balance, chances are you're losing your audience. ? 2?? Poorly Designed Environment The physical setting matters! An uncomfortable or distracting environment can hinder engagement. Opt for non-traditional, open spaces when possible. Add inspiring decorations and music to create a vibrant atmosphere conducive to productivity and engagement. ? 3?? Activities Aren't Built for Fun Many offsite activities lean towards the safe and traditional which tends to lose people’s attention. The most effective activities blend play and purpose together seamlessly.?It is a form of corporate alchemy that gets people up on their feet and hyper engaged. --------------------------------- ? ?? ?To discover the other deadly sins and what you can do about it, check out the Comments Section. ?? About Deliberate Innovation: We help forward thinking leaders to go offsite and solve their most unsolvable challenges. I was at a corporate offsite with a bunch of co-workers when I got unstuck. I always looked forward to corporate offsites. It was a pain to prep and travel, but I’d come back to the office with a clearer head. At this offsite, the facilitator led us through exercises to create our “word for the year.” He sent us on a long walk with some prompts like “What would make this next year win?” and “What do you want your next three years to look like?” We were on a bike path by the river when my word hit me. “VISION.” I realized I had no vision for my future. I had short term missions – Finish the report. Do the dishes. Plow the driveway. But my long term vision was vague - Make money. Be a good dad. Be a good husband. I finally defined what my success looked liked during that offsite: - I wanted to help people in some way. Still vague, but it was pointing in a different direction than my existing career. - And I wanted to help people in the outdoors. Get outside. Use nature to slow down. Six years later, I started hosting Durable Dad Days for men. They’re similar to a corporate offsite in the sense that you pull back from life. Get out of the “office.” Answer important questions when you’re not in the weeds. This Sunday, use the Durable Dad Day as your personal “offsite.” Especially if you’re not in the habit of doing them already. You can take the exercises with you and model future offsites for yourself moving forward. Tap here to get in on it ?? https://buff.ly/3S1Woyq

This January, I had the chance to attend not one but two offsites, and let me tell you – it was invigorating! ?? Don't get me wrong, I love remote work as I find it nearly impossible to concentrate when there's chatter around me. ?? But there’s something special about bringing everyone into the same room to focus, brainstorm, and connect. Here’s why offsites are such a game-changer: ?? Big ideas are born: Collaborating in person sparks creativity and helps teams tackle problems from new angles. ?? Stronger connections: It's easier to build trust and camaraderie when you can grab coffee together or share laughs in between sessions. ?? Faster decision-making: With everyone in the same space, you can cut through the back-and-forth and align on initiatives quickly. ??? Hands-on problem-solving: There's nothing like a whiteboard (and some markers!) to tackle complex challenges together. Remote work is amazing, but offsites remind us of the energy and magic of coming together as a team. Can’t wait for the next one! Andy Crossley, Brennan Partner, Michael Cruz, Todd Jenkins, Aziz Azeez, Luke McGowan ( we missed you!)

Building a Culture of Excellence: Insights from The Lottery Corporation Executive Assistants In June, something truly special unfolded as The Lottery Corporation Executive Assistants from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane came together for a?Corporate Diversity Pathways EA Ways of Working Workshop Program. Over two days, we created joyful moments as the EAs dared to find a better way to nurture a culture of high performance rooted in inclusion, belonging, understanding, trust and mutual respect. The workshop was a celebration of the EAs’ shared commitment to The Lottery Corporation's values of personal excellence and collaborative success. They embraced their collective strengths while nurturing the uniqueness of each EA's role as a valued member of the diverse, inclusive?high performing EA team culture. A standout moment was our keynote speaker, Simone Koolloos, whose journey from young entrepreneur to acclaimed Executive Assistant deeply resonated with the team. Simone's story of resilience, dedication and finding purpose as an EA in 2024 underscored the importance of trust, respect and understanding in our professional relationships. Simone reminded us that building a high-performing EA team isn’t solely about individual accomplishments, but about lifting each other up and inspiring innovative ways of working that support leaders, the organisation and the communities served. This workshop was a testament to The Lottery Corporation's commitment to in-person connection to support the EAs to foster a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion by investing in their personal and professional?growth and experiencing a genuine sense of belonging. London looked majestic early on this cold winter morning. A lovely sight to behold as I travelled to our client Prime Property Management. So we know that living and breathing company values is central in creating a high performing culture- but what does that mean for each and every team? Dr Glenda Rivoallan and I have worked with each and every team at Prime over the last couple of months to set an agreed way of working. Working together, led by the team to identify strengths, set the team vision, define the brand of the team and being honest about what each member will bring but also what they expect to see. This raw honesty provides psychological safety and a clear way of working. What I love is how different each team is - and the smiles as we identify each others strengths ?? It’s key that this is a working charter, something to help team boundaries, expectations and drive behaviours that will empower your team thrive despite the challenges. Never left in a file , but referred to and amended over the year. When was the last time you set your way of working? If you haven’t done it- or have done it but haven’t referred to it recently - the start of a year is a great time to do it! Let’s make your team a team that thrives in 25!??

We have all heard the phrase “Don’t mix business with pleasure”. But is that still true in today’s world? Some of the best opportunities, ideas, and partnerships come from casual, real-life moments. Great deals have been made over dinner, brilliant ideas sparked during casual conversation, and strong partnerships built on shared interests outside the office. When you actually enjoy the people you work with, everything just flows better—collaboration, creativity, and even problem-solving. Business doesn’t have to be stiff and transactional. The more we connect as people, not just professionals, the more doors open naturally. This week is a great example. I am privileged to be a part of Vistage UK and this week myself and Peter Hills are combining a trip to Florida for #chairworld2025 with a holiday with our loved ones. We are catching up with friends, colleagues and expanding our learning at the same time. So here’s to embracing the blend, because when you enjoy what you do and the people you do it with, success tends to follow. #Networking #BusinessAndPleasure #WorkShouldBeFun

Celebrating Our Annual ‘Plain Camp’ Event: Where Innovation Meets People As we all know, the heart of any successful company lies not just in its cutting-edge technology or groundbreaking solutions, but in the people who drive its growth and foster its culture. At Plain Concepts, we firmly believe that our success is rooted in our talented team members, their passion, and their unwavering commitment to excellence. This past weekend, we had the privilege of coming together for our annual “Plain Camp.” For those of you who might be wondering, “Plain Camp” isn’t your typical corporate event. It’s not about PowerPoint presentations or sales pitches. Instead, it’s a unique gathering where our entire team converges to connect, learn, and grow—both personally and professionally. Here’s what “Plain Camp” is all about: People First: Yes, we’re a technology and innovation services company, but we never lose sight of the fact that it’s the people who make us who we are. From developers to designers, data scientists to delivery managers, everyone plays a vital role. “Plain Camp” is our way of celebrating this diversity and fostering deeper connections among our colleagues. Knowledge Exchange: Our team members come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wealth of expertise. Team Building: “Plain Camp” is filled with team-building activities. From outdoor adventures to enjoying a party, we bond over shared experiences. After all, a strong team knows how to collaborate, communicate, and have fun together. Plain Concepts Crew: We often refer to ourselves as the “Plain Concepts family.” And just like any family, we celebrate milestones, support each other during challenges, and create lasting memories. “Plain Camp” reinforces this sense of belonging and reminds us that we’re on this journey together. So, as we wrap up another successful “Plain Camp,” I want to express my gratitude to every team member. Your dedication, creativity, and camaraderie make Plain Concepts more than just a company—it’s a community. Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to innovation, growth, and the incredible people who make it all possible! Plain Concepts #WearePlainers
