There are many buzzwords when it comes to child care, but the concept of a mixed-delivery system is definitely one we all need to understand. Mixed-delivery refers to offering or incorporating a variety of program types and settings for preschool services. This model provides parents and guardians with an array of choices to best meet the unique needs, preferences, and learning styles of their children. It promotes flexibility as families seek care for children with diverse needs. Learn more about the benefits of mixed-delivery systems on our blog. https://lnkd.in/dMeBBMAB

The National Equity Project has released a powerful set of new resources on Youth-Adult Co-Design and Design Partnerships based on their 5+ years of supporting school district networks through The BELE Network. Many educators understand the importance of student, caregiver, and community voice as they make decisions and design programming. According to the National Equity Project, co-design pushes us to go beyond centering the needs of the young people we’re designing FOR and create processes that allow us to design in partnership with young people and others. This opens up new possibilities for how we understand the equity challenges we face and the solutions our schools and communities need. Learn how to: ? Build meaningful partnerships between youth and adults ? Foster inclusive environments where everyone's voice matters ? Amplify youth perspectives in decision-making processes ? Create conditions for positive change in schools and communities ?? Download and share these resources today https://lnkd.in/guBaiU5D

Referring to addressing the inactivity crisis in Oakland youth (14% meeting CDC recommendations for physical activity), an Aspen Institute analysis states, “the most promising opportunity is to diversify Oakland’s sports offerings through partnerships by leveraging the community school model since children spend so much time at school.” School based programming grounded in cultivating Social Emotional Learning and belonging through relationships, sport and play is exactly what Ball for Life Oakland (www.ballforlifeoakland.org) has been doing since 2019. We have not only served thousands of underserved Oakland youth at their school sites but have shown a proven impact in essential indicators for thriving youth. Here are just a few data points from our most recent surveys at Escuelita (OUSD) and Oakland Unity Middle School (I will highlight more survey data in future posts!). 100% Ball for Life makes me more active 92% Ball for Life helps feel less stressed 95% Ball for Life helps me be more confident 100%? Ball for Life is fun! Let’s ensure that all youth have access to Social Emotional Learning and belonging focused programming grounded in relationships, sport and play. We can do this and our youth deserve it!

The journey of raising a child with special needs is unique for every family, often accompanied by triumphs and challenges. As educators, we have the opportunity to be more than just teachers; we can be allies, understanding partners, and supporters in this journey. Recognizing parents' daily lives, struggles, and victories is crucial in forming a partnership that transcends traditional teacher-student dynamics. At Distinctive Method Interventions, LLC, we advocate for a collaborative approach, where educators and parents work hand-in-hand to support the child’s learning and growth. This partnership is built on open communication, mutual respect, and, most importantly, understanding and compassion for the experiences of parents navigating the special needs education system. Let's strengthen this partnership. Together our voices can inspire change and promote a deeper connection between families and educators. We can create a more inclusive and empathetic educational environment for children with special needs.

This is what coffee mornings look like at Holding Space. Last week we hosted our September coffee morning, where we addressed hot topics like home schooling and navigating school attendance for children with learning disabilities. With an open, group discussion led by our Parent Peer Support volunteers, parents had the space to be able to share their own experiences and know that they’re not alone in how they’re feeling. The perfect example of why we do what we do. Not just to make sure parents and carers feel heard and supported by us, but also to feel heard and supported by each other in a place without judgement. This is what coffee mornings look like at Holding Space. Entirely led by you, so that you can gain what you need from this space. A safe space to talk about anything. Share as much or as little as you like. If you’d like information about our October coffee morning visit our website, or get in touch via email or DM. If you need us, we’re here ??
