BELIEVE it or not, the image of Santa Claus we know today is heavily influenced by advertising! (THIS IS A FACT) While the character has roots in Saint Nicholas, the jolly red-suited Santa Claus with a white beard became popularized through Coca-Cola advertisements in the 1920s and 30s. The Christmas ads are cooooooming ?? ?? We're half way through November so our feeds are starting to look ever so slightly more festive as brands start to roll out their Christmas activity. Out of the first few I've seen, this Paul Smith collab with Megan Ellaby caught my eye for the all right reasons. Here's why I'm awarding it three gold stars... ? Reason 1: giving the creator full creative control over the brief - the execution is so inherently tied to Megan's usual content creating the perfect breeding ground for building brand love - this makes the ad feel more like a genuine recommendation rather than a typical branded post ? Reason 2: show, don't tell when it comes to products - there is no voice over, no text overlay but I still want. that. jumper. - this approach lets the products speak for themselves, creating a natural, aspirational vibe rather than a hard sell ? Reason 3: use of such simple but effective visual cues - did I want to find out what was coming next under the cloche? Yes. Did I watch this until the end? Yes. I. did. - this element of surprise kept viewers invested without needing flashy graphics or over-the-top effects I'll be keeping an eye out for more of my favourites, but for now have a look at Megan's post for yourself and let me know what you think: https://lnkd.in/eF2Hv-ZC

My chilhood is spoiled, just thought of spoiling yours too!! ?? . . . Do you know the man in the picture below is “Santa Clause” ?? Yes, You heard (maybe read) that right!! Before 1930, people had different prespective on how a santa clause look. Some thought santa clause looked everything from a tall gaint man other thought he was a green man. There was no clear picture as such. In 1931 Coca cola hired an illustrator to create a new version of Santa for their advertising campaign. He created a fat red figure with a long white beard. It became so popular amongest people that even today when I say santa clause you will image a fat red man coming your way with a lot of gifts !!!! ?? They created it red only because the brand colour was red. Coming to the main point- The power of advertisement, the impact it can have. I am so love in the fact that a good marketing campaign can change the way this world thinks. It might take a hundred Santas and a few more lifetimes to change my love for such amazing campaigns :) #campaigns #marketing #advertising #love #cocacola
