It's fascinating to look back at the history of check clearing between banks, how ACH was created, and think about the struggles bankers faced with manual check processing and reconciliation. Can you imagine the headache of sorting through a pile of coffee-stained checks! Talk about reconciliation ?? Varo Bank has introduced a line of credit (up to $2k) feature for accountholders. While this is the right direction (Net Interest Margin lending), I'm curious how they can actually scale this given they are money-losing and were quickly running out of cash. Surely their Tier 1 capital ratios will quickly hit a wall?! Also, the business doesn't have the experience in lending, so between using their cash for lending and possible "learning lesson" write-offs, they may actually make their situation worse before it gets better?!
