By embracing these pillars, educators can create spaces that nurture psychological safety, foster innovation, and promote a culture of continuous growth. Such environments not only benefit individuals but also enhance institutional morale and learner outcomes. The blog emphasizes the ripple effect of flourishing communities—improved teaching practices, reduced burnout, and a stronger sense of #belonging, which aligns perfectly with the Jesuit tradition of holistic care and reflection, inspiring educators to be not only better professionals but also more compassionate leaders. And who doesn't want to work for professional and compassionate leaders?

We sat down recently with Dr. Tracey Hermanstyne, Assistant Dean of Academic Pathway Programs at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, to discuss Washington University in St. Louis's ongoing partnership with College Bound St. Louis. Dr. Hermanstyne also told us about a new program she is co-launching called PRIME. This program, which will be launched in collaboration with McCluer North High School and St. Louis Integrated Health Network, will bring local high school students to WashU over the summer to learn more about clinical specialties. #InSTLforSTL

This is what HCC Coleman College for Health Sciences is about: collaboration, exploration, respect for each other, and fun. Health science divisions need to build up interprofessional activities among all our professions. Starting these activities from the onset of our students’ training, will allow for students to respect each others chosen profession and understand that they WILL work together once out in the field. Because ultimately, the end goal is positive patient outcomes. We achieve this by working together as a collaborative healthcare team. We need to break silos between our occupations and build bridges instead. Thanks to Dr. Elizabeth Ho for starting this much-needed initiative. With its vote on February 13, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents authorized The University of Georgia to establish a new independent School of Medicine in Athens. The initiation of a school of medicine at Georgia’s flagship university comes at a time when the state faces a significant shortage of medical professionals. In recent years, Georgia’s population has surged to approximately 11 million residents, straining existing medical infrastructure and resulting in longer wait times for appointments and reduced access to care. Georgia—the nation’s eighth largest state—is forecasted to experience further population growth in the coming years, while nearly one-third of the state’s physicians are nearing retirement. medicine.uga.edu/
